If you're trying to survive in an apocalyptic universe that's overrun by zombies, chances are that you don't have much time for romance. But hey, characters in 'The Walking Dead' and now 'Fear The Walking Dead' series have managed some sordid romances, and, even got time to get intimate. Who cares if it's sometimes in a dusty old library or just on the grounds in a forest, sometimes you got to do, what you got to do.

But then again, this is when you are not faced with the eminent threat of dying. In 'Fear The Walking Dead', something was brewing for sure between Morgan (Lennie James) and Grace (Karen David) and there's already a chance that it might have been struck down. At the end of Season 5, Morgan and Grace confessed their feelings for each other and moments later were separated. Later, the episode ends with Virginia (Colby Minfie) shooting Morgan, leaving him for dead. In the final scene, a bloodied Morgan leaves a message for his friends 'Just live' and then a swarm of walkers descends upon him. Is this the gory end already for a romance that just about started?

Us fans hold out much strong hope that this isn't the case. Morgan and Grace's love story deserves to have a happy ending...as happy as something can get, in this scenario. The two have quite a scorching chemistry and have the potential to be one of the best couples on this show. Grace understands Morgan and all the turmoil he has been through. A sense of loss binds them together, as Grace feels responsible for the death of her co-workers and their families and Morgan has lived through the death of his child.

In an interview to TV Insider, showrunner Andrew Chambliss explained this understanding between the two of them. "The connection that Morgan and Grace had was one where Morgan could understand what she was going through. She felt responsible for the deaths of people she was close to, and like the only way she could come back from that was killing walkers. In many ways, that was an echo of Morgan’s reaction to losing his son and his wife: All he could do was kill walkers.”

Grace has the knack of dropping some strong truth bombs on Morgan, as well. One crucial scene is where she tells him coolly, "Yo you have the same problem as I do, you think everyone else’s life is more valuable than yours." Based on that glance and exchange, the two seemed to have realized that they share a strong understanding bond."

There's a lot Season 6 needs to explore between the two of them. First, we are crossing our fingers and toes that Morgan is still alive. And secondly, Grace is pregnant...not with Morgan's child, but someone she got romantic with. What does this mean for Grace and Morgan now? This storyline does deserve to be examined.

Maybe we will get our questions answered at Comic-Con 2020, July 24 at 12 pm during the 'Fear The Walking Dead' panel discussion.  Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Karen David, Jenna Elfman, Rubén Blades, Scott M. Gimple, Andrew Chambliss, and Ian Goldberg will be present at the panel, that's moderated by Chris Hardwick.
