One of the talented young dancers to feature in the reality competition series is Connor Wayment, a 13-year-old dancer whose family roots go back to Ukraine. He will be entering the show with her mother, Nadya Wayment. Let’s get to know the duo better.

Who is Connor Wayment? Meet the 13-year-old dancer from Utah

Born and raised in Utah, Connor Wayment has been dancing for the last seven years, but you’d be amazed to know that dancing was not his first love. He always wanted to be a sportsperson and tried playing different sports. The dancer believes that he would have been a soccer player if he hadn't injured his arm. After that, he tried his hands at figure skating and field hockey but soon got to know that these sports were not for him. Dance entered his life when his mother showed him a video of ballroom dancing and he realized that this was something that he would love to do. Since then, Connor has been participating as a ballroom dancer and won several competitions.

Last year, he along with his partner Kamri, took part in the UDC competition in Utah and Heritage Classic in Atlanta, Georgia, and won trophies. Currently, he is a member of the Stars Talent Studio.

On the other hand, it’s been decades since Connor’s mother has danced professionally. Nadya Wayment, who works as a healthcare professional in Utah, was born in Chernivtsy, Ukraine, when the country was a part of the Soviet Union. According to her, every girl had to learn dance there but feels it was nothing compared to what her son gets to learn these days. Nadya came to the US to attend a students’ exchange program and met her husband here. She returned to Ukraine, but later came back to the US and started her new life here.

The primary reason for the duo to compete in the show is that they want to turn the negatives into positives because they struggled a lot in the last couple of years. Also, Nadya still has family and friends in Ukraine and unfortunately, she doesn’t even know if they are doing fine or not.

We hope, the duo is ready to set the stage on fire with their epic moves and win the grand prize of $100,000.

‘Come Dance with Me’ premieres exclusively on CBS on Friday, April 15, at 8 pm EST.
