LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A new spin-off of 'Law and Order' is officially at work! While fans are excited about the new spin-off, they hoped and demanded that a show based on the 'special victims unit' character Detective Amanda Rollins be released. The internet was practically begging for this character to return in a spin-off after learning that actor Kelli Giddish was fired. But it seems like Rollins won't be coming back.

Viewers were expecting to see Giddish play a profiler and truly thought that a few episodes of 'SVU' served as a backdoor for a pilot spin-off for her character. Nevertheless, fans are still excited about the Canadian adaptation of the show as it would permit focusing on the crimes that are taking place in Toronto. Although, we will miss Detective Amanda Rollins!

Citytv ordered the adaptation

'Law and Order: Criminal Intent' is getting its own Canadian adaptation as ordered by CityTV. The adaptation would follow an elite squad consisting of detectives whose job is to investigate the cases of high-profile crimes and corruption in the city of Toronto. While the production is expected to start this fall, the series will have its premiere in the spring of 2024 with the exact date not being finalized yet. After the French and Russian adaptations of the show, fans are excited about the Canadian spin-off and how the cultural mechanisms of the country would be adapted.

The spin-off is not exactly what the fans hoped

The senior VP of television at Rogers Sports & Media, Hayden Mindell said in a press release, "The timeless appeal of the cases explored in the globally successful Law & Order franchise continue to draw in CityTV audiences week after week," as per The Sun. The number of audiences tuning in to see the US version of 'Law and Order' on their television screens gave them the idea of making a Canadian adaptation.

While the fans were certainly hoping for Giddish to make a comeback with her own show, it seems unlikely that it would take place in any way recently. While the details of the release date and timing of the new spin-off in the US have not been revealed yet, fans are excited to witness how the show would be adapted. Given that the departure of Rollins from the series was not her choice, even the return of her character would not be her choice either. The desire of the higher-ups to keep the show interesting and fresh along with disagreements regarding salary may have contributed to the decision.
