Spoiler alert for 'Chicago PD' Season 7 Episode 15

In the second part of the crossover that continues on from this week's episode of 'Chicago Fire', the episode of 'Chicago PD' sees Sean Roman finally work with the Intelligence Unit. He is partnered with his former partner, Kim Burgess on Sgt. Hank Voight's orders.

Roman sees that Burgess is different and that the unit is treating her with kid gloves. On repeatedly asking her, Burgess finally tells him that she was pregnant with Adam Ruzek's baby and that she lost it — saying she was fine because it was an unplanned pregnancy.

When Roman and Burgess go to a lakehouse knowing that it was the last place where Roman's sister, Sarah, was spotted they come across Sarah's body.

We later learn that she was strangled and beat up, but what actually killed her was the freezing temperatures. The DNA under Sarah's fingernails are analyzed and Intelligence concludes that Logan Peters — the older dealer Sarah was seeing — killed her.

However, on looking for Logan, they come across his dead body — he had been shot twice. The Intelligence initially suspects that Logan's supplier may have killed him to tie off loose ends. However, the supplier has an alibi.

Burgess questions the witness who led them to arrest the supplier, however, the witness's statement does not add up. She gets Sgt. Trudy Platt to do some digging on the witness, but keeps it from Voight.

Burgess finds out that the witness was Roman's old CI and goes to see him. She tells him that the car spotted near the crime scene is similar to that of his relative's but Roman denies everything.

Voight and the rest of the Intelligence Unit discuss what they know, but Burgess keeps what she knows from Voight. He then asks her to bring the witness in so that Voight can question him. When the Intelligence goes to the witness's house, they see that he has packed up in a rush and left town.

They learn that the witness was an addict but was on his way to becoming better. The witness had left his landlady an envelope full of cash before he left — three grand.

Voight suggests to trace the serial numbers to find the person who paid the witness to lie — however, it is clear that Voight suspects Burgess knows more than she's letting on.

She does tell him later on and Voight shows up at the funeral for Roman's sister. During his eulogy, Roman moves everyone to tears as he talks about his sister's last moments.

Roman goes to Voight and asks, "how are we going to do this?" Voight tells him that they are not going to arrest him and that the investigation will be made a low priority.

Burgess tells Roman that he's right, that they should carry around the pain and should not get to decide what to do with it. With that, Burgess joins the rest of her team and walks away.

Will Sean Roman stick around? It is unlikely, however, his presence — even though temporary — might have helped Burgess confront the pain of losing her unborn baby.

'Chicago PD' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights at 10/9c.
