When will 'Chicago Med' Season 6 Episode 9 air? Natalie may be forced to choose between Crockett and Will
This week, NBC's 'Chicago' shows return with new episodes and in a surprise turn, Natalie Manning's (Torrey DeVitto) son, Owen is back on the show as Natalie's family faces a worrying turn of events when her mother collapses in front of her son following a heart attack. Meanwhile, Maggie Campbell's (Marlyne Barrett) foster son, August, gets to meet his brother. However, Maggie gets upset when Auggie's brother's adoptive parents suggest that they could adopt August as well.
The episode also gives Manstead fans some content after Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) comes in to check on Natalie, while her current boyfriend, Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) treats her mother. Will is concerned and brainstorms with them regarding what could be wrong with her mother, however, Crockett seems a little concerned that Natalie's ex is butting in.

What happened previously?
This week's episode also introduced Dean Archer (Steven Weber), who was Ethan Choi's (Brian Tee) Navy mentor. Dean is the newest member of the hospital and while this may look good for Ethan at first, his controlling behavior as the new Emergency Department head has led to burning some bridges, including his ex, April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and Will.
Dean's thinking is a little archaic, and it looks like he and Ethan might end up clashing in the ER, especially since Ethan now outranks Dean in the hospital. Meanwhile, an interesting case comes to the hospital when a woman comes crying that her baby fell down. However, when the blanket is removed, the attending doctor realizes that it is a doll.
Even when it is pointed out, however, the woman continues to plead with them to help her baby. When psychiatrist, Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) does not respond to the call, Sharon Goodwin (S Epatha Merkerson) checks on him and learns that he lost the custody hearing for Anna.
Elsewhere in the hospital, as Crockett and Natalie explain to her mom about her heart failure and what options they have, Will comes in with flowers, making her happy. It is clear that like many Manstead fans, Natalie's mom would like her to be with Will as well. Crockett does not seem to be happy about it and seems to be shooting daggers with his eyes at Will.
While Natalie is upset about her mother's health prospects, Will comes to her and tells her that her mother is an ideal candidate for his clinical trial and that the medicine has helped patients even reverse heart damage. We don't think Crockett will be happy about Will going behind his back to talk to Natalie about the clinical trial.
When Crockett finds out that Will canceled Natalie's mom's heart surgery, he confronts Will. Crockett wonders aloud if Will is trying to get back with Natalie but Will, in turn, gets angry and tells him that he will not apologize for being close to Natalie's mom and that it is not on him that Natalie did not keep Crockett in the loop.
Crockett, however, goes to Natalie and advocates against Will's clinical trial — in what seems a very thinly-unveiled battle to find out whether Natalie trusts him or Will or more. Natalie decides to go forward with the surgery and we are not sure how Will could react to it. Either way, it does not seem like the Will-Natalie-Crockett tension ends here and there could be more coming in the future.
When will Episode 9 air?
For now, it looks like 'Chicago Med' will be back for a while. The ninth episode of Season 6 will likely air next Wednesday, March 17.
What to expect from Episode 9?
The synopsis for the next episode states, "As Maggie deals with her own trauma, she steps in to help a mother in need. Dean continues to stir the pot with more than one doctor. A patient comes to Med needing immediate treatment, but doesn’t want it from them."
Given how Dean has interjected in Ethan's case and overstepped his bounds on his first day itself, it is not surprising that the new doctor will continue to ruffle feathers. Moreover, both Will and Crockett are strong-headed, so we imagine both doctors will be upset with Dean's presence. What the promo shows is that Dean snitches to Ethan about Crockett and Natalie dating, and they have to make the decision to go to HR about their relationship.
Maggie had to make the hard decision to let Auggie's brother's adoptive family adopt August as well so that the brothers could be together. We have seen Maggie be with Auggie throughout his illness and it feels tough to see her go through this. We also learned that she lost a child before Auggie, when she was 16, as she put the baby up for adoption. Maggie-centric episodes are always great so we are eager to know what's in store for her future.
