Big brother or new crush?

Firehouse 51 is brimming with romances. While Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Brett (Kara Killmer) struggle to understand their feelings for each other, there's also something brewing between new recruit Gianna Mackey and Gallo – or so we would like to believe. However, fans have taken a different route, and are spotting something between Joe Cruz and Gianna. Cruz is more like a mentor to Gianna, but viewers feel that he seems to be a little too "obsessed" with her.

He's probably just concerned, considering she got held at gunpoint and was almost run off a bridge in one day. When Gianna appears to be quitting because she feels that she isn't good enough, Cruz gives her a pep talk and says that she shouldn't give up just yet.

While most fans see him as a 'big brother', others are keen on spotting something else. "Okay I absolutely love Cruz and Mackey's relationship already, he's needed a bit of family at 51 after losing Otis. #ChicagoFire@AdriyanRae @DaMinoshow," a fan tweeted.

"I think Joe got a little crush on Gianna! And honestly, I could see it #ChicagoFire@NBCOneChicago," a fan tweeted. "Gianna coming on connected to Cruz is also one of the best decisions they ever made. #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote. "Sometimes I even forget that joe is married. he’s a little obsessed with Gianna #ChicagoFire #OneChicago," a fan wrote.

In an interview with MEA Worldwide, actress Adriyan Rae, who plays Gianna opened up about her new role. "She’s the girl who grew up a tomboy but has now fully embraced her femininity. She’s quick-witted and super family-oriented. She has a huge heart and a great sense of humor. I hope my character finds her home at 51 and grows not just in her career but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I hope to do the exact same thing with my time on the show as well."

Meanwhile, Casey and Brett seem awkward around each other, even though it's clear that they have feelings for each other. Fans are not sure whether to be on board for that couple or not.

Tune into 'Chicago Fire' on NBC Wednesdays at 9 pm.
