'Game On!': Release date, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the game show starring Venus Williams and Rob Gronkowski

If you ever wanted to watch Venus Williams wrestle a sumo or Rob Gronkowski perform rhythmic gymnastics, then you should watch 'Game On!'

Do you enjoy sports and comedy? Well, then you should definitely catch up on CBS's latest offering 'Game On!'. The show features tennis legend Venus Williams and NFL star Rob Gronkowski. The two athletes will lead opposing teams competing against each other on various sports activities and trivia.

Release date

'Game On!' is set to premiere on Wednesday, May 27, on CBS.

Plot

Based on the BAFTA award-winning show 'A League of Their Own', CBS's 'Game On!' promises to be a highly entertaining blend of comedy and sports, just like its British counterpart. 'Game On!' will feature two teams comprising of three members, led by Venus Williams and Rob Gronokowski. The teams will compete against each other in crazy physical challenges such as wrestling a sumo wrestler to performing rhythmic gymnastics. The challenge doesn't end there.

The teams will also be tested on their sports trivia knowledge. With trivial questions like which athlete cried the longest after a victory, to which athlete was the largest baby, the teams will have to really flaunt their sports-based trivia. 

Cast

The show will feature Emmy and Peabody Award-winning writer, creator and actor Keegan-Michael Key as the host. Keegan is best known for his work in 'Keegan & Peele'. He had most recently appeared in  Eddie Murphy's 'Dolemite Is My Name' and will also be featuring alongside John Cena in Paramount's 'Playing with Fire'.

Tennis champion Venus Williams and NFL star Rob Gronkowski as team captains. Venus is a tennis legend with seven Grand Slam titles, five Wimbledon championships and four Olympic gold medals, she has managed to become one of the most recognized tennis players in the world. Since she first began playing tennis at 14, the star athlete has managed to rise to the top and won several accolades through the course of her illustrious career.  

Actor and comedian Bobby Lee and Emmy-winning writer Ian Karmel will be on comedy panel. 

Creators

The show has been executive-produced by Ben Winston. Winston explained about the show, "We are so delighted to be making this show with CBS. We couldn't have found a better host and partner in Keegan and I can't wait to see Gronk and Venus as we've never seen them before, going head to head in some epic yet ridiculous battles."
