'Captain America 4': Cast, date, plot, and the latest buzz around MCU movie
'Captain America 4' is officially in the works with Anthony Mackie starring as the iconic MCU superhero. His Sam Wilson who finally accepted the mantle of the star-spangled hero in the finale of 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier' will now have his own standalone movie with Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah tapped to helm the movie. Chris Evans played the role earlier, in three movies, and reprised his role in the four 'Avengers' films that were made over the last decade.
The aftermath of 'Avengers: Endgame' saw Steve Rogers (Evans) pass on the shield to Sam Wilson/Falcon (Mackie) and that set the tone for the Disney+ limited series that also saw Sebastian Stan reprise his role as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the critically acclaimed series. 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier' premiered in 2021 after 'WandaVision', and garnered a healthy 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with the critic consensus reading, "Packed with blockbuster action and deft character beats, Falcon and the Winter Soldier proves itself worthy of Captain America's legacy with its globetrotting intrigue, mature social commentary, and the sparky rapport between stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan."

Who is starring in 'Captain America 4'?
While details about the cast list are pretty scarce, Mackie will most certainly return as Sam Wilson/Captain America. The film might also see Stan appear as Bucky while Emily VanCamp may reprise her role as Sharon Carter. There is also official confirmation that Evans may return as Rogers. The actor did simply tweet that Mackie's indeed Cap, but there might always be the possibility of seeing him return to the MCU in a cameo role.
What is the release date of 'Captain America 4'?
At the time of writing, the film is yet to go on the floor, meaning it will be a while before we see any first looks of the fourth installment. With Phase 5's titles not officially confirmed, it might be a wait before we see Mackie suit up and wield the shield. Our guess? Maybe a 2025-26 release at the earliest.
What is the plot of 'Captain America 4'?
'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier' was all about Wilson finally embracing the fact that he was indeed the Captain America the world needed after Steve Rogers' death during the blip. There's no telling which direction or arc the movie might take. But surely it will be thought-provoking considering how Evans' movies were all about the life and times of Rogers in a modern-day world where Hydra wasn't the only evil that needed to be weeded out.

Latest buzz around 'Captain America 4'
Chris Evans says Sam Wilson is Captain America
Interviews ahead of and during the release of Disney's 'Lightyear' that saw Evans voice the iconic Buzz Lightyear were all about his return to the MCU. While the 41-year-old felt it was a perfect end to his run as Cap, there has always been the feeling of his return. The actor recently took to Twitter saying Wilson is Cap, and while that confirms that there is a hero taking up the mantle, there are still enough possibilities for Evans to play Rogers in the film.
Where do we know Julius Onah from?
Fans will remember Onah for 'The Cloverfield Paradox' and the Indie drama 'Luce' starring Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Octavia Spencer in 2019. The latter was positively received by critics and he will now join hands with Malcolm Spellman, the creator and head writer of 'Winter Soldier', who is penning the script with Dalan Musson.
