Can Tulay Tan speak English? Internet claims ‘Love and Translation’ star is fooling viewers by 'faking it'

Fans think its very unlikely that German contestant Tulay Tan cannot understand English

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, CARIBBEAN: Fans slammed 'Love and Translation' star Tulay Tan, pointing out that, unlike other women on the show, she clearly understands English but pretends not to. Some argued that for someone from Germany, it's highly unlikely that she can't comprehend English. Despite the criticism, Tulay consistently maintains that she cannot speak English.

Many viewers claimed that Tulay knows how to speak English, pointing out that many words are even common in both English and German. They argued that it was improbable for her not to understand the language.

"The word "to shower" is the same in French, German and technically Italian too," said a user. "The German deffo speaks English," added another. 

Some viewers noted how most Germans are taught how to speak in English in their school, right from kindergarten, so it was highly possible that Tulay, if not fluent, but certainly understood and could speak the language. "there is not one girl from Germany that does not know English. This is fake, because all children learn English, some even in kindergarten," the user said. "First of all just about everybody in Europe speaks English," added another. 

One user noted how not just Tulay, but most women on the show do understand English and that it was rather difficult to digest that schools don't teach kids English in 2024. "Basically a bunch of passport bros and green card babies. I don't believe for one second that they don't know English, especially the ones from Europe where English is practically taught in school as a requirement. It's 2024, obviously they've been exposed."

However, Tulay has been playing her game quite effortlessly despite the barriers.

In the tropical setting of the Dominican Republic, 'Love And Translation' star Dylan Hodge found a special connection with Tulay Tan. He went on to say, "However, one of them stood out miles beyond the others to me, and that was Tulay."

Despite the evident chemistry, Tulay chose to take things slow, politely declining Dylan's offer to kiss. Undeterred, Dylan reached out to Tulay, expressing that he felt a connection between them when they were staring at each other for about two minutes. He expressed his desire for her to join him on a date the next day.
