Adding to their growing list of anime releases, Netflix is coming out with an adaptation of Kachō Hashimoto's 'Mushikago no Cagaster (Cagaster of an Insect Cage)' manga. The series follows the adventures of an exterminator in a post-apocalyptic world where a strange disease is turning people into horrifying insect monsters.

Release Date

'Cagaster of an Insect Cage' Season 1 will be releasing on Netflix on February 6.

Plot

The show follows Kidou, a young exterminator who makes a living killing Cagasters, humans mutated into insects. Kidou is entrusted with protecting a girl named Illie and the show's plot is all about how he tries to get her to her mother while navigating the dangers of this dystopian world. Here's the official synopsis for the series: "Thirty years after a disease that turns the infected into carnivorous insects emerged, a young exterminator and a teenage girl search for her mother." 

Cast

Yoshimasa Hosoya

The show stars Yoshimasa Hosoya, Kana Hanazawa, and Natsuki Hanae in lead roles. Hosoya is a Japanese voice actor who was also a member of the pop duo MaxBoys. His most notable roles include Reiner Braun in 'Attack on Titan' and Fumikage Tokoyami in 'My Hero Academia'. He will be voicing the lead character Kidou in 'Cagaster'. 

Director

Koichi Chigira

The series is being directed by Koichi Chigira for Gonzo. He is a Japanese director and animator who is best known for directing 'Full Metal Panic!' and 'Last Exile'.

Trailer

The trailer for 'Cagaster of an Insect Cage' showcases some beautiful art and introduces the characters of the show. The clip also reveals that there are two factions active in this world, one that's trying to eliminate the insect threat and another that sees the Cagasters as the next step in human evolution.
