With Kodie Chartrand's (Sera-Lys McArthur) custody battle getting more and more convoluted, her biggest enemy right now is her own self, especially that decision-making part of hers that drove her to practically kidnap her two kids and run off with them to a secret hideout. What Kodie did is definitely going to risk her situation with the law, a potential arrest, and a violation of custody agreement waiting to be slammed against the former addict. The real question is: will Joanna Chang (Kristin Kreuk) be able to help her? Or will Kodie get into further trouble?

According to the official synopsis by CBC, the Canadian network the show originally aired on, Episode 4, titled 'Desperate Measures' will see "All of Millwood police looking for Kodie, and with the imminent threat of a province-wide Amber Alert, Joanna must track her down first in order to have any chance at saving her custody case." It is this air of doubt surrounding whether Joanna will be able to help Kodie out of her mess r not that keeps us on our toes for the upcoming episode.

Considering Kodie has already once tested positive for drugs in the recent past, it's no secret that Millwood police are on the lookout for erratic behavior from her end, especially now that her children's custody was seized from her. The drugs tests coming back positive led to Madison (Brooklyn Letexier-Hart) and True (Olivia Sinclair) being handed to the latter's biological grandmother, Marlene (Jennifer Dale), but when her indiscretion surrounding fake complaints against Kodie emerged, the judge decided it was best to put the two minors in foster care.

Having already lost her children's primary custody once, it's understandable why Kodie would want to run away with them from foster care, but what she doesn't realize is firing Joanna isn't the solution. It's her who needs to reevaluate things over again, not Joanna who needs to buckle up in her defense. At the same time, Kodie also has no clue why Joanna is so passionate about seeking justice for Kodie, so she keeps pushing away the only people who are trying to help her in times and situations as difficult as these.

'Burden of Truth' is now airing season 3 every Thursday, at 8 pm only on The CW.
