After a successful run in the UK, 'Bulletproof' Season 2 is all set to make its US debut on The CW. This time around, the stakes are higher and the action, emotion and character complexity are on a whole new level. One of the most interesting new characters joining the show is Alex Markides, played by Greek actor Stavros Zalmas. In an interview with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), Zalmas spoke about how well-written and nuanced his character is and the challenges of portraying him.

"I was really happy when I got the script and read what Alex Markides is about, as the character is just so well-written, with a lot of layers and depth. I guess that itself was the challenge but what fascinated me the most about my character," Zalmas said. "I had to portray the bad guy, a ruthless criminal capable of anything in order to sustain his empire. But, at the same time, this man cares and adores his family and his beloved ones, is deeply sensitive and has morals and ethics. I felt for him and his effort to keep his balance between family, business and friendships."

We asked Zalmas whether there were any scenes in particular that were challenging for him to play and he said, "It was not a particular scene that was emotionally challenging only, but the character himself, and I am truly blessed to be given the opportunity to play Alex Markides as I embrace challenges and believe that they make me a better actor and a person."

"As I said before, Alex Markides is not a simple man or even the stereotypical criminal," he explained further. "He is an old-school, romantic person who values the concept of family and life. The fact that he is a dangerous criminal and the head of illegal businesses but at the same time has these principles in his life and embraces the concepts called devotion, trust and compassion, are just these contradictory factors that make him interesting to watch and challenging and fun to portray."

So what can fans expect from 'Bulletproof' Season 2 and Alex Markides? Well, Zalmas is playing his cards close to the chest on that one. "I was afraid that this question would come eventually," he laughed. "Unfortunately, I cannot give any tease for the fans of the show and I think that they wouldn’t want me to spoil all the fun of watching Bulletproof 2. What I can promise them though is that they will enjoy it and hopefully love it as much as I did."

'Bulletproof' Season 2 will premiere in the US on June 10 at 9 pm ET on The CW.
