Spoilers for 'Bulletproof' Season 2 Episode 3

Season 2 of 'Bulletproof', starring Noel Clarke and Ashley Walters, gets bigger and better than ever before with an international story. It's quite a change from the more localized, procedural format the show had in Season 1, but it's a welcome shift, and Episode 3 illustrates just how much the show has evolved.

The episode finally introduces Eleanor Markides (Gina Bellman), the matriarch of the Markides crime family. After faking a hit and winning the trust of the Markides family, Aaron Bishop (Noel Clarke) and Ronnie Pike (Ashley Walters) are whisked off to Amsterdam where they discover the full extent of the Markides sex trafficking ring.

The team manages to break the deal with the help of the Dutch police but the descriptions of what these women, most of whom are underage, have gone through are get-wrenching. In case you were about to forget how evil the Markides family really is, the latest episode serves as an excellent reminder.

However, there are some interesting internal dynamics that the episode brings out. While Eleanor is a ruthless criminal who has no qualms about selling women like cattle, her brother Alex Markides (Stavros Zalmas) is a far more honorable man who lives a life of crime simply because he was born into it but cannot stand this sort of debasement of human life. There's a stark contrast between the two characters and we're pretty sure there will be some sort of civil war between the two before the season ends.

The episode does get pretty dark with human trafficking, prostitution, and Pike fooling around with drugs and making out with Scarlett "Scooch" Hailton (Olivia Chenery). Now, that's something that's going to come back to bite him.

The story itself continues to remain an enjoyable affair with brilliant sights of Amsterdam, an exciting car chase through the historic city's narrowest streets and canals, and some interesting bonding going on between Bishop and Alex. To top it all off, the episode ends with quite the cliffhanger as the boys are confronted by the Dutch police after they help Alex escape custody.

'Bulletproof' Season 2 airs Wednesdays at 9 pm ET on The CW.
