Looks like the dreams of many BTS fans are finally coming true as it was announced that BTS was the first K-pop boy group to be invited to the White House in the USA. On May 27, RM (Kim Namjoon) shared an image on his personal Instagram story in which it was revealed that the boy band was invited to meet President Joe Biden and discuss the ongoing anti-Asian hate crimes. The boy group has been doing phenomenally well and is one of the biggest music acts in the world at present which is why it is not shocking for fans to witness BTS members being respected globally.

Years ago when BTS first started their ‘Love Yourself’ campaign, ARMY started joking that since the fandom and the boys only cared about each other, all fans could move to a hypothetical country named, Namkanda, and Kim Namjoon aka RM could be the president of that country. Fans started making fun edits about what the country would look like and how its flag would appear. Not only that, but fans also made up an edit with an image of RM dressed in a suit with the White House logo in the background. Over the years ARMYs have been wanting RM to run for president as a joke but it seems like they could live out some of their theories now.

BTS to visit the White House, US on May 31

With BTS being invited to chat with Biden, fans are waiting to hear what the members have to say to the world about an issue that is so close to home for them. According to Big Hit Music (HYBE), the label that manages the activities of BTS, the boy group received an invitation from the US president to come up to the White House on the occasion of the 'AANHPI Heritage Month' for Asian Americans and Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders on May 31. This year, it was reported that the topic of discussion would be inclusion and diversity and the boy group will discuss indiscriminate hate crimes and discrimination against Asians.

Since this issue is emerging as a serious social problem in the US, it is expected that members of BTS, who have visited the US and are people of Asian descent, will share an outsider’s opinion with Biden. The boy group plans to share their opinions with Biden to enhance their role of being young ambassadors and spreading a message of hope and support around the world. While talking about the invitation a representative from the label stated that it was a great honor for BTS to be invited by Biden to the White House.

The label added, “As BTS visits the White House on behalf of Korean artists and exchanges conversations with President Biden, we look forward to sharing various stories throughout.” The boy group has been spreading a message of hope and positivity to the world based on its global influence over the last few years of their career and came to be elected as the 'Presidential Special Envoys for Future Generations and Culture’ by the 76th President of South Korea, Moon Ga-in.

The boy group attended the United Nations General Assembly for the second time in the year 2021 and addressed world leaders on behalf of future generations. The members of BTS are also active as ‘cultural ambassadors’ to promote Korean culture to the world. In addition, BTS has participated in the ‘Love Myself’ campaign with UNICEF and the ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign along with their fans from all over the world. The boy group also supported the message of ‘StopAsianHate’ and will now share its impact through the medium of their platform.

‘I forget how big BTS is’

Fans on the other hand are ecstatic about BTS being invited to chat with the US president. One fan joked, “I hope joe doesn't get too nervous meeting the president.” Another shocked fan said, “Sometimes i forget how big bts is, like im sitting here watching these guys cook, play video games, share their humble life and then next thing i know bts are invited to the white house.” One fan called out haters saying, “Some btches mad bc bts go to the white house LMAO, they are talking abt the serious thing in the world and we arent that free to play with your "my fav deserve more" agenda.”

One more fan asked, “Bts at the grammys, unicef, bbmas, amas, oscar’s, and now in the white house bts are really everywhere where will bts go next?” One fan said, “The fact that Bangtan is the first k-pop artist who will go to the The White House to address anti-Asian hate crimes & discrimination. BTS really shows how they influence the people around the world. Best boys! BTS PAVED THE WAY!!”
