Is BTS going on a hiatus? ‘REST WELL’ trends as fans wish them happy holidays

BTS last took a mini-break from mid-August to mid-September in 2019. The members will now be spending time with their families and loved ones

From dropping new music to setting the stage on fire at award shows and concerts, K-pop icons BTS have been working way too hard. Now, with an intention to give them a break, their management company Big Hit Music announced over the weekend that the septet will be going on a short vacation to rejuvenate. This comes after the group recently performed at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMAs) followed by their ‘Permission to Dance: On Stage’ concerts at SoFi stadium after a gap of two years.
 
BTS had also recently enthralled their fans at the 2021 Jingle Ball. With this vacation, however, they will miss the Seoul Music Awards which is touted as one of the biggest award nights in South Korea. BTS members namely RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook will have to quarantine as per the new mandate for the international travelers. The BTS Army could not contain their excitement as soon as they got to know about the legendary group taking a short break. Hashtag ‘#Restwell’ soon picked up the heat on the trending list as fans thronged to Twitter to wish them happy holidays.

Is BTS going on a hiatus?

Announcing the big news on December 6 via Twitter, Big Hit Music revealed that BTS will take some time off to recharge and will only make a return in March next year. This is only the second time when BTS is going on a short hiatus. They last took a mini-break from mid-August to mid-September in 2019. With this mini-hiatus, BTS members will be spending time with their families and loved ones.

In the official statement, Big Hit Music on Twitter said, “BTS stayed active in order to engage with fans in 2020 and 2021 amidst the COVID-19 situation and achieved dazzling results to cement themselves as top global artists.” They continued, “This period of rest will provide the members of BTS who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy.” The big announcement also revealed that BTS will be making a comeback with a bang. A double album along with a thrilling performance in Seoul is how BTS will be enthralling their loyal fans upon return.

‘BTS deserves to rest, they’ve given us so much during the quarantine’

The BTS Army wished the band happy holidays and said that they deserved the vacation following a busy year. “That notice has everything i’ve ever wanted… BTS TAKING REST TO BE WITH THEIR FAMILIES DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND A NEW ALBUM SOON?? DOUBLE WIN!”, said one loyal fan as another chimed-in, “Can’t wait for the concert and album that will mark the beginning of a “new chapter”! Rest well.” The next one shared, “Now time for everyone to catch up with their missed vlives, unfinished run bts episodes, unwatched in the soop… etc etc. we have so many things we can do while waiting for them to come back. Enjoy the bangtan rest too, everyone!”
 
One user tweeted, “BTS have been really working so hard. thanks to you for everything you've done for us even amidst the pandemic! Rest well, you deserve it so much. we'll always be here, waiting & to support you. Looking forward to the new album & the beginning of a new chapter.” Meanwhile, one user said, “BTS deserves to rest, they’ve given us so much during the quarantine and much more after things started to slowly calm down, i’m glad they'll get to spend the holidays with their families and enjoy their time with them..” Another stated, “The last time BTS went on rest and came back with a new album we got MOTS 7 era and all the amazing content and projects that came with it. I can only imagine what this new album symbolizing a "new era" will bring us. 2022 is going to be amazing omg”, as one concluded, “We’re gonna tell BTS to rest and they’re gonna come out of quarantine with 65 new songs.”
