The premiere episode of 'Bride and Prejudice: Forbidden Love' is here but it's setting up for a lot of heartbreaks. At least that is what it looks like so far. Willi, Blair and Kiandria's (Kee Kee) parents do not approve of their relationships and they have their reasons.

Even though we get a sneak peek into Willi-Cameron and Chris-Blair's stories, the maiden episode focussed on Kareem and Kee Kee and how they went about breaking the news of their engagement to her mother, Marvaline.

The couple has been together for three years and are running a digital marketing agency together. Life's been perfect for the two and it got a whole lot better when Kareem made an effort to bond with Kiandria's 6-year-old son. He's almost like a father figure to the kid - helping him get a hair trim, wearing matching clothes and generally being there for him. It's hard to give up on someone so affectionate, but maybe she will have to someday if her mother doesn't approve of their togetherness.

But Marvaline, Kee Kee's mom, has her set notions. She doesn't know Kareem the way Kee Kee knows him and has made it clear that she is not interested in changing her opinion about him. It's unfortunate that Kareem would have to battle such harshness to be with the love of his life.

The three couples were brought under one roof by Pastor Calvin Roberson to give them an idea of what their parents thought of their relationships because before that they'd never had an open conversation about it. Marvaline showed her disgust and distrust over Kareem saying that there was this one time Kee Kee shared with her how he had been treating her as if she were his secretary. "Kareem is using Kee Kee for money and business," she added. In addition to this, Marvaline also thought that he is an immature individual who is also much younger than Kee Kee.

Marvaline wants the best for her daughter but her strong opinions could only foster hatred and feelings of contempt. Let's hope, she is able to look past the exterior and explore and communicate with the person Kareem is on the inside.

After learning what their parents thought about them, Calvin asks the couples to break the news of their engagement to their parents and also, seek their approval and blessings in their journey to a happy tomorrow. Quite obviously, Kareem is nervous and discusses how he is going to talk to Marvaline about it. As he giggles, Kiandria points out that being so happy and putting up a smiling face will only put her mother off and she'll be doubly sure of her initial assessment of him (that he is immature).

As the couple walked into the bar, Kareem tried charming her with a compliment. You could see he's feeling a lot of things and is a nervous wreck but that doesn't stop him from fighting for his relationship. He shares how committed he is to Kee Kee and her son adding that he loves them with all his heart. But Marvaline wants him to come to the point and not talk in circles.

When Kareem finally breaks the news, he asks: "Is it alright if I married her?" Marvaline responds with an "I don't know" at first and later says a flat-out no. All three involved in the conversation are shocked and why wouldn't they be. The couple was secretly hoping she'd melt and give her blessings while Kee Kee's mother thought she didn't have to face such a day.
