Bravo to film NeNe's husband Gregg Leakes' battle with cancer for Real Housewives of Atlanta
Reality television is about to get really real. NeNe Leakes' husband's battle with cancer will be filmed for the 'Real Housewives of Atlanta', reported RadarOnline. "RHOA filming starts Monday," an insider revealed to the publication, talking about the schedule for what is to be the season with the highest viewership in the entire franchise.
RHOA is in its 11th season and has been a really successful reality show so far. "Everything about NeNe and Gregg is going to be filmed for as long as they want," the insider informed.
NeNe, meanwhile, announced in an Instagram post that Greg's treatment had begun and that she loved Greg very much. "Our New Normal and the fight begins #f**kcancer #mdandersoncancercenter #yougotthis#iloveyou," she wrote in the post that featured her husband, arms crossed sitting on a chair with an anti-cancer message on the side.
The source also confirmed to Radar that Bravo only planned to broadcast only the parts that the couple would want and would give them permission to. "NeNe can call the shots. If she wants Gregg and the situation filmed, it will happen. If she doesn’t and needs time that is fine with Bravo. NeNe is a pro but she will do the right thing for her family first," the source said. This does indeed appear to be an immense commitment on NeNe's part as any other person in the public eye would perhaps want to keep such a fragile and vulnerable time private.
Taken aback, NeNe's friends and colleagues were quick to come to her support. Kim Zolciak, her former arch enemy and industry colleague, in spite of their enmity, also expressed her support. NeNe expressed her gratitude with another Insta post where she said, "Some of you have educated us on cleanses, diets & holistic healthcare. We wouldn’t know some of these things if it wasn’t for the reach we have been blessed to have. So far, Gregg is doing great! He feels good with the exception of not being able to eat a lot. The cancer was removed! Now we have to decide whether we do chemo or not? Would you? Thank you so much to the ladies I work with and have worked with in the past for sending gifts, love and just good ole words of encouragement," before saying, "and yes even @KimZolciak."
US Weekly reported that it Kim and NeNe's friendship has been sailing quite smoothly, even though they had a showdown in season 10 of the series. A source told, "They have a longstanding relationship. You saw them at odds this past season on RHOA but they didn't show them getting along, laughing, and being friendly but there is a longstanding relationship there." Let's hope Gregg feels better soon!
