‘Billions’ Season 5 Episode 7: What is Maria Sharapova doing with Axe again, will he steal Wendy from Tanner?

Walking on a dangerous path, Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) seems to be inching closer towards Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) by peeping into her personal time with artist Nico Tanner (Frank Grillo).
In last week's episode of ‘Billions’, Axe had set up a camera to stalk Wendy and fans have been wondering if he's in love with her. In Episode 6 'The Nordic Model', Bobby was eyeing Wendy and Tanner like a vulture and even invited them for dinner. It did make Wendy flinch and wonder if he's somewhere around but she did give a go-ahead. Episode 7 'The Limitless Sh*t' begins with the dinner, where Axe brings Maria Sharapova along. She first made a cameo in Season 3, Episode 10 'Redemption' where she stuck to being what does best — being a tennis player and helping Bobby work on his backhand shot.
In the new episode, she joins the get together as Chef Ryan (Timothy Davis) serves delicious food! What's more, Mike 'Wags' Wagner (David Costabile) also brings in his new lady love with whom he wants to have a new baby. Catching Sharapova on screen in the show was quite a surprise for many fans. "Maria Sharapova is back! A babe," one said. When one fan wondered, "Why’s Maria Sharapova back on the show," another responded, "Axe brought @MariaSharapova to dinner with him."
"Just watched Maria Sharapova in another cameo in #Billions during a dinner scene reeling off all the diets she's tried; fails to mention meldonium," one eagle-eyed viewer noted and another said, "The budget must have been increased majorly in Season 3 of #Billions especially the backend of the series John Malkovich, Maria Sharapova & Kevin Durant so far all rocking up." One went on to express his surprise, saying, "Maria Sharapova and Louis Litt make an appearance in #Billions."
However, not everyone was quite as happy to see her back for mere seconds on the screen. "Some of the celebrity cameos on @SHO_Billions are just ‘extra’ as they say. Maria Sharapova having dinner with Bobby Axelrod in tonight’s episode didn’t really add anything to the show. Kind of reminds me of how ‘Entourage’ got with the celebrity cameos," one fan posted.
After that episode, Bobby's attempts at bringing Tanner down are only getting stronger. As 'The Limitless Sh*t' comes to a close, Bobby proves to Wendy how Tanner is just another modern painter who would be swayed by rich pockets that offer him a hefty pay. But why is he so hellbent on doing that? Will he manage to steal Wendy from Tanner?
Calling Tanner an "opportunist", one fan said, "I totally still believe that Axe is in love with Wendy and is jealous of her new relationship with Tanner but I also think Axe realized that Tanner is an opportunist and has legitimate reasons why he doesn’t want Wendy to be involved with him. #Billions," and another posted, "Damn. Axe pegged Tanner as a total scammer from the jump and Wendy is totally baffled! Axe read right through this man and Wendy thought Tanner was different! Well played Axe! Well played!"
"Axe has been in love with Wendy for awhile now. This artist has no idea the lengths Axe will go to be an a**hole," one fan posted and another wrote, "Nothing unravelled about Axe! He is just jealous. Wendy is the love of his life and no matter who he or she is with, in his mind, he OWNS her. So naturally, he feels betrayed to find out that these two betrayed him. They will find each other in the end!"
Many viewers are convinced that the two will be endgame. "Axe is jealous and is just realizing that he is in love with Wendy. It would be interesting to see Wendy and Axe together. Love this show, Love Axe!!" one tweet read. But another fan felt it was "toxic". "Axe's obsession with Wendy is such a turn-off. Please just remain as good friends. Axe is so toxic."
