'Big Bang Theory' renewal: CBS President teases season 13 and revival of medical drama 'Code Black'
'Code Black', was not the only show being discussed as Kelly Khal went on to shed some light surrounding the developments of another popular CBS series, 'The Big Bang Theory'.
During the last season of renewal/cancellation, a great many shows suffered a tragic fate as various cable networks, including CBS, chose to give the boot to certain long-running TV series. In the canceled lot was also the Robe Lowe-starring popular emergency room drama, 'Code Black'. While chances of a fourth season for the series had seemed almost impossible earlier, CBS president Kelly Kahl recently fuelled hope.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Kahl, on Sunday, not only mused on the possibility of bringing the medical drama back but also teased the show's rather positive performance.
“It’s doing incredibly well, it’s a well-done show. We’d like to figure out a way to maybe make it work,” the CBS executive told the press at the event adding, “We’re going to take a look.” Coming from the network's Entertainment President, this is certainly a good news, however, until an official confirmation, we urge 'Code Black' fans to take this update with a pinch of salt.
What an incredible ride. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this amazing season of #CodeBlack, it wouldn't have been the same without you.❤️ Watch the series finale here: https://t.co/DHEcGmhsAl pic.twitter.com/57LNXMOGFm— Code Black (@CodeBlackCBS) July 19, 2018
'Code Black', however, was not the only show being discussed as Kahl went on to shed some light surrounding the developments of another popular CBS series, 'The Big Bang Theory'. Moving into the 12th season of the long-running sitcom, there has been a mounting speculation over the show's return for another run. While showrunner Steve Holland and star Johnny Galecki have indicated otherwise, looks like TBBT might very well return for a thirteenth season, if everything goes as planned.
“We don’t believe it’s the final year. We are in preliminary discussions to renew the show [for a 13th season]," Kahl teased.
Interestingly, Holland wasn't quite sure about the fate of the series when he spoke about season 12 earlier. “Until I hear differently, yes [it’s the final season],” he had told TV Line. “I know we have next season, but I don’t know what happens beyond that... And it’s not my decision to make. So all I can do is go forward with next season and make it great.”
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said the network is in "preliminary discussions" with producers Warner Bros. Television to continue one of TV's top comedies the #BigBangTheory https://t.co/LoBKzhCdRE— Hollywood Reporter (@THR) August 5, 2018
As of now, 'The Big Bang Theory' is scheduled to return on CBS with all new episodes on September 24. And we can only hope that Code Black meets with a similar fate as well.
