LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Beau Is Afraid' is an upcoming surrealist horror-comedy movie made by the same studio that gave people 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'. The movie tells the story of Beau, an anxious but pleasant-looking man, who embarks on a surreal journey back home following the death of his mother. He confronts his deepest fears along the way.

Ari Aster, who is known for the horror gems 'Midsommar' and 'Hereditary', directed the film, wrote the screenplay and co-produced it with Lars Knudsen. It is distributed by A24. The movie was initially titled 'Disappointment Blvd', which has since been changed to 'Beau Is Afraid'. Aster had been working on the project for quite some time, beginning with a 2011 short film called ‘Beau’, which would later become the foundation for a sequence in the said movie. Elisa Alvares, Timo Argillander, Len Blavatnik, Danny Cohen and Ann Ruark serve as the executive producers for the movie. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan and Michael Gandolfini.
