In the comics' 'Elegy' story arc of Batwoman by Greg Rucka, Alice kidnaps Jacob Kane and holds him captive in a military facility. However, neither Jacob nor Kate know Alice is Beth and this truth is revealed at the end of the story

The CW show 'Batwoman' is inspired by Greg Rucka's Elegy story arc, but so far, with seven episodes down, we have not seen any parallels between the comic and show. In fact, the way the show was set up is quite different from the comics itself and the biggest difference of them all is the absence of Batman.

In the comics, he keeps a watchful eye on his cousin who is playing at being a superhero. In the show, of course, Kate doesn't have Batman to fall back on. In the show, she is constantly being compared to him in his absence and writes journals addressed to him in which she explores the life of being a caped crusader.

In the upcoming episode, however, we finally see Batwoman get to the crux of the comics -- Alice kidnapping Jacob Kane. In the promo of the upcoming episode 8 titled 'A Mad Tea Party', we saw how Alice has taken her father hostage and she also arrives at a party in Gotham that Catherine Hamilton-Kane and Mary Hamilton throw for Jacob Kane.

The promo shows how Alice's hatred for her father has pushed her to carry out a plan that will ensure he is hurt enough to understand the pain Beth went through when she was a child. By now Jacob and Kate Kane aka Batwoman also know Alice is none other than Beth and this does stop them from going all out as they would while dealing with other criminals in Gotham.

That is exactly what gives Alice the chance to be the mastermind of a revenge plan. Now, here's the thing -- one of the biggest differences between the comics and the show so far is the fact that Jacob and Kate did not know the truth about who Alice really was.

In the show, of course, Alice and Kate have this sibling nemesis dynamic that partly works. She has a vial with yellow liquid content that she plans on using for her revenge plan. This also seems to differ from the comics; meaning, Alice had kidnapped Jacob and held him hostage at a military base from where she had planned to steal a plane that she would use to spread poison gas in Gotham.

When Batwoman fights Alice in the plane mid-air after hijacking the plane, Alice ends up getting kicked out of the plane and before she tumbles down to her death, she reveals she is Beth, Kate's sister and Jacob's daughter who was believed to be dead.

The next episode of 'Batwoman' will air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
