Jamie Durie is known for transforming home backyards into welcoming areas. In the latest episode (Saturday, September 12), Jamie decided to help the Sepulveda family that had been struggling with their backyard for six years. The family moved into their house six years ago but never managed to find the time to renovate their backyard.

Over the years, the family struggled with a lot of things. Husband and wife Amie and Gus Sepulveda revealed that they had been planning on renovating the backyard for a long time, but their financial condition did not allow them to. Amie lost her job a couple of years ago, and that put the financial burden on Gus. Meanwhile, her father had been staying with them, and he happened to be a hoarder. Amie admitted that it was hard to let go of things. However, with Jamie in the house, she knew it was time to bid her goodbye. The family started by taking out all the junk that was in the house. Their son, Aiden Sepulveda, revealed that he had been using the place for his imagination of fighting a zombie apocalypse.

Jamie admitted that the backyard proved to be a good place to do it. After the family was done taking out the junk, they cleared out the area that was needed for renovation. Jamie was keen on making a garden that is welcoming to everyone. Amie revealed that she wanted an area for the butterflies. She was looking forward to having plants that might attract them. Meanwhile, Gus wanted an entertainment area where the family could come together. Aiden wanted an area to continue playing his zombie game. While his sister, Gigi, wanted an area where she could read and study.

Jamie made sure that his layout had all the things that the family was looking for. Without wasting any time, the family got to build their space. Jamie assigned each person with their respective task and even asked them to camp in their backyard to feel closer to their project. Right from nailing the woods to planting new plants, the Sepulveda family was in it together. Once the renovation was completed, they invited their friends and family to have a look at their new backyard. Not only was the Sepulveda family shocked, but the renovation managed to leave the guests also surprised. The family admitted that they were looking forward to spending time together in their backyard.

'Backyard Takeover' airs on Saturdays at 9 pm ET on HGTV.
