'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 8: Logan Palmer's slip of the tongue ruins Lace Morris' 'fake' birthday party
VALLARTA, MEXICO: Lace's phony birthday kickstarted Season 8 of 'Bachelor in Paradise.' But it was our new entrance to the circle, Logan Palmer, and him taking the wrong name of a lady who was really looking forward to wooing him that made Bachelor Nation laugh out loud.
The greatest way to stay a long time in 'Bachelor In Paradise' is to attract some attention, which isn't always easy. Lace Morris spent the whole of the premiere episode of 'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 8 on September 27 learning this lesson. The alum from Ben Higgins' season in 2016 was at a disadvantage entering the newest season of Paradise, particularly given her five-year absence from the franchise. Lace reached into her bag of tricks and chose to fake her own birthday in order to gain some sought attention in the face of more fresh names and faces.

Last year, we saw Mari Pepin throw a birthday cake into a bonfire; luckily, this season's birthday cake pranks were considerably less combustible. Lace arrived and expressed her concerns about returning to the brand after such a lengthy absence. She debuted on Paradise six years ago, and though she was engaged to Grant Kemp, their relationship did not survive. She also stated that her choice to return was not taken lightly, as she had spent a significant amount of time working on herself. Those efforts, however, went undetected because no one appeared very enthusiastic when she arrived. People didn't dislike Lace; they just didn't know who she was.
Lace was already at a significant disadvantage on a show where familiarity is important. Midway through the episode, host Jesse Palmer informed the ensemble that power would be in the hands of the boys. As a result, it was up to the women to entice the boys. Lace's thinking became more active as the rivalry heated up. Lace became increasingly disinterested in the guys at her disposal as the program went on. She then lost interest in the majority of her cast members. "I’m alone for myself here," she explained. "It’s just me against Bachelor in Paradise."
"I’m gonna start being fake as f*ck right now," she said, which is when she chose to lie to everybody that it was her birthday. The rest of the clueless cast banded behind her, allowing her to spend some alone time with Logan Palmer as the rest of the participants enjoyed some homemade cake and margaritas. Logan is pleased to share some cake with her, but his expression when Lace informs him that he's the only person there she's interested in — "terrified" is a word that comes to mind.
"Interesting," he mutters, looking behind him for a way out. Logan accidentally called her "Luce," which ruined the party. "This might be the worst birthday I’ve ever had, and it’s not even my birthday," she says as she begins to spiral. "I just spent all this time talking to you, and you call me Luce?" she scoffs. "You didn't even know my name?" Logan apologizes, but he is now determined to move as far away from Lace as possible.
Fans didn't waste any more time getting creative with the Logan memes given he wasn't exactly a fan favorite during his time on 'The Bachelorette' Season 19. Taking a dig at him for faking Covid to get out of having to pursue a relationship with either Gabby or Rachel, a fan wrote, "Logan’s about to catch another covid variant to get out of this situation #luce #BachelorInParadise." Another fan thought this was his way of getting out of the situation since he didn't seem interested, "Do we think Logan purposely used the wrong name to get out of it #BachelorInParadise." Some fans also commend him for his quick thinking to change the conversation to their age so that they didn't have to further dig into the rabbit hole, "Logan was quick with that recover for not knowing her name to swap it with her age lmao #BachelorInParadise." Defining his reaction while talking to Lace, a fan tweeted, "The look on Logan's face when Lace says she's interested in him. Pure terror. #BachelorInParadise."

However, some fans also sided with Logan and felt bad for him given it was his first day in Paradise and remembering everyone's name? Well, can be hard. A fan tweeted, "I felt so bad for Logan in this moment. Like it’s the FIRST day and he’s just tryna talk to Lace and accidentally forgets her name, but she just ROASTS him and embarrasses tf outta him instead of just correcting him and moving on #BachelorInParadise #bachelorinparadiseabc." Another fan felt Lace was rude to Logan with her response, "Lace was a little rude to Logan. He seemed embarrassed and sad #BachelorInParadise."

Producers may have been concerned that Lace would not be completely embarrassed when she viewed this again, so they cut from this "birthday" sequence to Jesse Palmer reading this voiceover copy, "Considering faking your own birthday to meet men? I think we can do better! Apply to be on the next season of The Bachelor."
'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 8 premiered on September 27 at 8 pm ET and is set to air every Tuesday on ABC.
