'Aria': Yerin makes solo debut on GFriend's disbandment date, fans say 'what a good day'

Yerin rewrote all the bitter memories of GFriend's disbandment on May 18 by making her solo debut on the same day

May 18 and May 22 were two heartbreaking dates for Buddies (GFriend’s fandom), however, Yerin has come to everyone’s rescue. The idol actress became the last GFriend member to make her solo debut and many were pleasantly surprised at the dates she picked for her comeback. May 18, 2021, had been the day when it was announced that GFriend would be disbanding. Then on May 22, the actual disbandment took place as the group members' contracts expired. But now, Yerin is trying to rewrite these bad memories.

Three of the GFriend members debuted as Viviz, and Yuju made her solo debut, while leader Sowon shared that she would not make a solo debut since she already has GFriend. The girl group members have time and again shared that they did not want the group to disband and so, it was just a matter of time before they reunited. And so, fans were touched that Yerin, the last member to expand her solo singing career, created happy memories for fans on May 18. The idol actress debuted with her first solo mini-album titled ‘Aria’ on May 18 and is set to perform it for the first time on the music show ‘Inkigayo’ on May 22.

GFriend’s Yerin, Yuju, and Sowon rewrite the memories on May 18

While fans were previously ready to wallow in misery and reminisce about GFriend, the members have taken it upon themselves to cheer fans. Along with Yerin’s debut with ‘Aria’, we have the first official posters and stills of Sowon’s first K-drama and movie. On top of it, it was announced that Yuju would be one of the singers lending her voice for the OST (original soundtrack) of Sowon’s drama. Yerin also shared that she was nervous and excited as she was debuting once again.

Yerin, who previously only got two chances to make songs for GFriend, was more hands-on as she was involved in every single aspect of her solo debut from the songs, concept, stage performances to other creative decisions. She also spoke about GFriend and how they showered her with love and support for ‘Aria’. While she was in the group, she had focused on dance, but for her solo debut, she paid more attention to the lyrics. The title track ‘Aria’ is an upbeat fun song with a groovy rhythm full of synths that complement Yerin’s refreshing vocals.

Fans are excited as one tweeted, “Im so happy to finally hear yerin sing again. all these releases from gfriend members and as i am still new to the environment looking for that unique spark. i am finally home again and it feels like home.” Another fan said, “I'm obsessed with this yerin.” One Buddy posted, “Yerin realising her Solo debut album on May 18 and having her first debut stage on 522 SHES CRAZYY.”

Another commented, “Gfriend really said gonna erase all the bad memories on may 18.” One fan shared, “Yerin choosing a date that used to be a nightmare to all of us, changing it to a happy day to celebrate her solo debut day instead. will never stop saying how amazing she is.” Another Buddy said, “Today we got yerin’s solo debut, sowon’s drama poster, and yuju’s ost for sowon’s drama what a good day to be a buddy.”
