Are WJSN Exy and Seola OK? Fans wonder if sasaengs caused the car accident

Exy and Seola were involved in a car accident as they were heading to a scheduled event in Busan on August 31

BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA: WJSN, also known as Cosmic Girls, recently won the Mnet reality show 'Queendom 2' but now, as the girls are booked and busy, a new tragedy has befallen the group that will result in Exy and Seola’s hiatus from activities for the time being. Starship Entertainment, the label that manages the activities of the girl group, announced that WJSN's members Exy and Seola were involved in a minor car accident as they were heading to a scheduled event in Busan on August 31. 

According to Starship Entertainment's statement, neither of the members nor the manager was seriously injured, and they were quickly moved to the emergency room for diagnosis and treatment. The statement also assured fans that none of them have fractures but need additional treatment and time to rest due to muscle pain and minor bruises.

Starship’s statement read, “In accordance with the opinions of the medical staff, we will put the artists’ health first and do our best to focus on their stability and recovery in order to prevent any aftereffects. We will inform you of their schedule after adjusting it according to their stability and recovery. We’d like to apologize for causing concern to the fans and related officials.” Moreover, there is chatter in the fandom that has Ujungs (fans of WJSN) claiming that the accident was caused by sasaengs (stalker fans) who followed the girls around with the intention of causing them harm.

‘This could’ve been worse’

Fans are shocked and can't help but be worried for the Cosmic Girls members, hoping the two young girls rest as much as possible. One fan pointed out how locals are creating a fanwar between Loona fans and WJSN fans, tweeting, “A lot of the people that's starting the wjsn and loona fanwar aren't even orbits but actual orbits aren't excused. This isn't something to joke about or an opportunity for a drag. exy and seola got into a CAR ACCIDENT. have some f****g respect for them”. 

Another fan said, “The amount of “orbits” I’ve seen joke about exy and seola is insane. Can we be humans and not bring qd into something this serious…” Rumors flew around about if the accident might have been caused by Sasaengs or by a petty fan war. A fan tweeted about how some people are making fun of a serious situation, writing, “No cause I saw a lot of us being worried for the monthly girls during their tour but then part of their fandom comes along and cheers for EXY and SeolA's accident. They can't even be decent humans and leave stupid fanwars behind. This could've been worse.” 

Meanwhile, other fans sympathized with the situation and expressed their love and support for the Cosmic girls members. “That's so terrifying…I hope exy and seola as well as all the other staff aren’t too scared and that their minor injuries get better soon. car accidents are scary and it must’ve been hard.” Fans also requested Starship Entertainment to give the members a lot of time to recover. “Please give seola and exy as much time as they need to recover.. their health always comes first.”
