'Archenemy': Meet Joe Manganiello, Zolee Griggs and rest of the cast of Adam Egypt Mortimer's superhero flick
'Archenemy' will be one of those mind-bending and insanely violent superhero films that will be hitting video-on-demand in December ahead of 'Wonder Woman 1984'. Starring Joe Manganiello, the flick directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer sees Mike Fist claiming to be a superhero from another dimension.
Naturally, the world mocks him in disbelief except for two teens, Hamster (Skylar Brooks) and his sister Indigo (Zolee Griggs). And while much of the plot is relatively unknown, a look at the trailer gives enough promise of some high-octane action and an impressive cast. Ahead of the film's release, here's a quick look at who's who in the flick:
Joe Manganiello as Max Fist
Manganiello is no stranger to the superhero genre. The actor is best-known for playing Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi's 'Spider-man' and followed it up with a DC role as Slade Wilson / Deathstroke in the DCEU, making his first appearance in 2017's 'Justice League'. His other major projects include— 'Magic Mike', 'Magic Mike XXL', 'What to Expect When You're Expecting', and 'Sabotage'. In 'Archenemy', he plays Max Fist, a man claiming to be a superhero, but in another dimension, and who has lost his abilities after landing on earth.
Skylar Brooks as Hamster
The 21-year-old shot to fame as Mister in 'The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete'. He had a cameo appearance as Hoppy in Jake Gyllenhaal's 'Southpaw'. The earliest memory is Brooks playing a skinny kid in 'Southpaw' where he hails from a troubled family household. Hoppy is often a victim of domestic abuse and dies after being shot by his father when he attempts to defend his mother.
While much of his role is unknown in 'Archenemy', expect him to dish out a promising performance.
Zolee Griggs as Indigo
Griggs has had some stints in some of the best shows in the recent past. She starred as Shurie Diggs in Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga alongside Ashton Sanders and Shameik Moore. Diggs is the fictional sister of RZA (Bobby Diggs) and an amalgamation of some of real-life RZA’s 11 siblings. Her other projects include 'Boomerang' and 'Adam Ruins Everything'. She plays Indigo in 'Archenemy'.
