'Amsterdam': Cast, release date, plot, and latest buzz about historical crime movie
2022 is going to deliver many highly anticipated films for viewers. While 'Thor: Love and Thunder' is already getting a lot of attention online, David O Russell's 'Amsterdam' is another film that everyone is eagerly waiting for. Filmed in Los Angeles, the movie is trending as it marks Russell's return to direction after his 2015 biographical comedy-drama 'Joy'. Before that, Russell gained recognition as a director for films like 'Spanking the Monkey', 'Flirting with Disaster', 'Three Kings', 'I Heart Huckabees', 'The Fighter', and many others.
'Amsterdam' was announced back in 2020 with filming expected to start in April. However, just like every other project, it was also delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and its production finally began in January 2021 following a long process of casting. Michael B Jordan was initially cast in the film but he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Although Jennifer Lawrence was reportedly considered for Margot Robbie's role, Robbie was confirmed to appear by January 2021. The movie's title was revealed at CinemaCon in April 2022.
