'Tenet': Meet John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and rest of the cast of Christopher Nolan's thriller flick

'Tenet' has been one of the films that bore the brunt of the pandemic. The Christopher Nolan-helmed action thriller was delayed thrice due to the pandemic, and when it did open in cinemas, it became the first Hollywood feature to open in theaters after the pandemic shutdown and has grossed $357 million worldwide, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2020. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 71% rating while the audience score read an equally healthy 76%.

The critic's consensus read: "A visually dazzling puzzle for film lovers to unlock, Tenet serves up all the cerebral spectacle audiences expect from a Christopher Nolan production." The film boasts of a stellar cast and has a string of names, including Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia and Martin Donovan. 'Tenet' is all set to be available on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD, and digital services on December 15, and ahead of the film's release on small screens, here's a look at who plays who in the film:

John David Washington as the Protagonist, a CIA agent

A football player-turned-actor, Washington plays the protagonist and is called by the same name. Part of the CIA, the protagonist is employed by Tenet, a secret organization, as he bends the flow of time to prevent World War III. On his career front, Washington played football in college. He went on to spend four years as the running back for the United Football League's Sacramento Mountain Lions, before switching careers. He has appeared in HBO's 'Ballers' and in Spike Lee's 2018 film 'BlacKkKlansman'.

Robert Pattinson as Neil, the Protagonist's handler

Pattinson needs no introduction. The actor is known for his role as Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' series, Tyler Hawkins in 'Remember Me', Monte in 'High Life' (2018) and Samuel Alabaster in 'Damsel' (2018). His most recent works include 'The Lighthouse' (2019), 'The King' (2019) and 'Waiting for the Barbarians' (2019). He will next be seen in Matt Reeves' 'The Batman'. In 'Tenet', he plays one of the key supporting characters who aid the Protagonist in his mission.

Elizabeth Debicki as Katherine "Kat" Barton

Debicki plays Kat, the estranged wife of Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh), a Russian oligarch who communes with the future. Debicki made her acting debut with 'A Few Best Men'. Following that she appeared in 'The Great Gatsby' winning the AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She has also appeared in 'Macbeth', the Henry Cavill-starrer 'The Man from UNCLE', MCU's fit flick 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2' and 'Widows'. Debicki plays Diana, Princess of Wales, in the final two seasons of the Netflix period drama series 'The Crown.'

A member of the Tenet, Kapadia's character Priya plays an arms dealer in the film. The veteran Indian actress will make her second appearance in Hollywood with 'Leela' being the first back in 2002. Martin Donovan, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Aaron Taylor-Johnson round up the rest of the cast.
