SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Jennifer Jeffries recently impressed the ABC show judges, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. During the showstopper round, Jennifer performed Noah Kahan's song, 'Northern Attitude'. However, Jennifer's latest song drew comparisons to ABC show alum, Alejandro Arand, but the viewers didn't agree with the judges and criticized them over their comments.

In the latest episode, Jennifer told the judges expressed her nervousness and claimed she blacked out during most of the performance and didn't remember the lyrics. However, Katy called her 'diamond in the rough' and pointed out that Jennifer's voice couldn't be all texture and tone. Meanwhile, Luke Bryan compared Jennifer to Alejandro, who was the runner-up of Season 19.

However, after Luke announced Jennifer as the Top 24 contestant, the criticism started rolling on social media. A social media user tweeted, "I'm sorry, but I don't get how hyped the judges are for Jennifer Jeffries. NOT EVEN CLOSE to Allejandro." Another X user added, "That girl, Julia, just made my point about Jennifer Jeffries. Not even in the same league. You may be interested but this is a singing competition. Gotta sell tickets."

Another critic noted, "I’m not in agreement AT ALL with the judges on Jennifer Jeffries. They just love her and I don’t see it. So many better than her. Anyway." Another internet user penned, "What are they hearing with Jennifer?" Another Reddit user wrote, "Jennifer doesn't do a damn thing for me." Another viewer said, "I agree. I don't get the hype smh." Another person noted, "Alejandro mentions never die."
