Before joining the show, Odell fondly shared, "I was six years old when I decided I wanted to be a singer." However, his life changed, and he took a break from pursuing his musical aspirations to focus on being a father.

Now, making a powerful comeback on 'American Idol,' Odell chose to sing "Bring It On Home" by Sam Cooke, a song that resonated with previous contestants.

Judge Lionel Riche was impressed by the unexpected talent from the security chief and stated, "I was not expecting all of that."

Fellow judge pop singer, Katy Perry praised Odell, declaring him the best soul singer of the season, a sentiment echoed by Luke Bryan. Overwhelmed with emotions, Odell could not hold back his tears as the judges showered him with praise.
