'American Idol' Season 18: Just Sam stuns with her voice despite sore throat and fans are rooting for her

Though her voice was a little hoarse because of her sore throat, she managed to pull off a stunning performance, that got her a standing ovation from all three judges

Just Sam is special and fans stan!

'American Idol' Season 18 returned with night three of Hollywood Week, and this time, the stakes were high and the pressure was higher. Out of the contestants who advanced from the duet round on night two, only 40 moved to the next round. The judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan made some cuts and they weren't easy. 

Just Sam was one among the 40 who advanced to next week's Disney round. After delivering what was a powerhouse performance, Just Sam impressed judges and fans. Performing her rendition of 'I’m Here' from the musical, 'The Color Purple', she had the judges up on their feet cheering for her. 

Though her voice was a little hoarse because of her sore throat, she managed to pull off a stunning performance, that got her a standing ovation from all three judges. Post her performance, Luke shared that she was special. 

Hearing Luke's comments about Just Sam being special, fans took to Twitter agreeing with him. Fans also shared they were rooting for the singer to make it further in the competition. 



 

"Um, wow @AmericanIdol Sam has something special. Just wow," a fan wrote. Adding to that, another said, "I love Just Sam Every time she sings, she brings something special. The music lives through her. #AmericanIdol." 

"#AmericanIdol i loved just Sam's performance! What a beautiful spirit she has. She deserves everything," a fan shared. While another said, "Just Sam #AmericanIdol Was it a perfect vocal performance? No. Did that need to be? No, because she had the SOUL that the song needed to make me believe it." 

"Just Sam #AmericanIdol Someone sign her already. Don’t wait! I’d buy her record on vinyl right this minute," a fan wrote. Another said, "Why does Just Sam freak out before every performance and then absolutely crush it every single time? Girl.. You are Top 10 even with laryngitis! #americanidol." 

"Just Sam we rooting for you homie #americanidol," a fan wrote.
