'American Idol': Fans wonder how 'boring and bad' Fritz Hager is getting to Top 5 round

The tensions are running high as the competition on 'American Idol' Season 20 is getting narrower. With the Top 5 contestants getting a chance to receive one-on-one mentoring with alum Carrie Underwood, the Top 7 contenders were ready to fight tooth and nail to earn a spot in the top 5 round.

Despite being diagnosed with Covid-19, Fritz Hager refused to allow the deadly virus to dampen his spirits. Hoping to earn a spot amongst the Top 5, Fritz decided to take a bold risk and performed two of his original songs during the Top 7 round. The first song titled 'All My Friends' had the guest mentor Will.i.am completely blown away by its emotional lyrics, while the second song, a homage to his mother and grandmother' beach house- 'The Ocean' left the judges and the audience emotional. So, when it was time for the audience to pick their top 5 contestants, they all voted for Fritz.

Though fans were initially happy for Fritz, when they realized that Christian Guardino and Jay Copeland, who according to them had better vocals, were getting eliminated, they were unhappy. Several fans took to Twitter to call out the audience for saving Fritz instead of Jay or Christian. A fan tweeted, "I don't get this Fritz kid. He'll be lucky if he gets to sing the Anthem at a Nascar race! #Pathetic #AmericanIdol." "FRITZ NEEDED TO GO HOME 3 WEEKS AGO SMH #americanidol," wrote a fan. Another fan added, "Can everyone stop voting for fritz on #AmericanIdol please Thank you."

Another fan shared, "Fritz is literally so boring and bad.. Christian should have stayed #americanidol." "And the fact that everyone else had to perform on stage and Fritz got to use his rehearsal video & Noah gets to be in a hotel..Rigged! #americanidol if they country ones win, we already know," pointed out a fan. "Are people giving Fritz extra credit for the original material because it can't be straight vocals when Jay and Christian are gone #AmericanIdol," wondered a fan. "BROOOOOO how could JAY AND CHRISTIAN get voted off over FRITZ?!?! FRITZ? I’m so annoyed. #AmericanIdol," expressed a fan. "Mediocre a** fritz gets saved over JAY you gotta be kidding me I’m sick as hell #AmericanIdol," commented a fan.
