Since its debut 'RuPaul's Drag Race' took the world by storm. It helped make drag mainstream and allowed a whole new set of audiences and fans to be privy to the world and the art of drag. So it comes as no surprise that for drag queens making it on to the show is a pretty big deal. What you do during your time on the show, however, is critical.

No matter how talented, not every queen goes on to becomes America's Next Drag Superstar. And, over the years, it's clear as day that the competition just gets tougher every year. Queens definitely understand the significance of being on the show -- regardless of if you win or not, it's the perfect opportunity to make your brand shine. Interestingly enough, some of the most popular and biggest names to come out of the show aren't even the winners!

Season 5 of 'Drag Race' arguably had some of the biggest personalities. It was a season filled with drama and the queens of the said season have gone on to create phenomenal drag careers for themselves. It's the season that gave us Rolaskatox -- the ultimate alliance between Roxxxy Andrews, Alaska Thunderf**k and Detox. It gave us an underdog and deserving winner, Jinx Monsoon. And of course, the never-ending Alyssa Edwards and Coco Montrese drama. Despite having placed sixth in her season, Alyssa has gone on to create a drag empire of her own. So, who is Alyssa Edwards? Here's a look at the queen that has been impersonated by others on the show.

She's a dancing and pageant queen

Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson, who goes by the stage name, Alyssa Edwards is known for being a pageant and a dancing queen. She is quite seasoned when it comes to pageants, having won multiple titles over the years. One of the biggest storylines of Season 5 was her losing her 2010 Miss Gay America title to fellow contestant Coco Montresse, seeing that she was unable to fulfill her obligations. Some of the titles she's won include Miss Texas FFI 2006, Miss Gay USofA 2006, Miss Texas Continental 2007, Miss Shining Star Continental 2009, Miss Gay America 2010, Southern Elegance All American Goddess 2010, All American Goddess 2010, to name a few. Out of drag, Johnson runs a dance studio in Mesquite, Texas, known as Beyond Belief Dance Company.

She's given fans some of the most iconic and quoted lines on the show

Alyssa's charm and outspoken personality made her an instant breakout star on the show -- she always had a witty comment to make and knew how to work the camera. Ever since her run on Season 5 and on All-stars, she's given 'Drag Race' fans some of the most iconic catchphrases ever, such as 'I don't get cute, I get drop-dead gorgeous', 'Girl, look how orange you look', a line said during her infamous fight with Coco Montrese, 'Rigar Morris' on All-stars when she meant to say rigor mortis. And of course, there's her iconic tongue pop. With her larger than life personality and mannerisms, it comes as no surprise that she's one of the most impersonated queens on 'Snatch Game', 'RDPR's most iconic challenge, seeing that Violet Chachki, the Season 7 winner and Aja, Season 9 alumni and All-star contestant both impersonated her.

The drag star's net worth is...

As a drag performer, an entrepreneur, TV personality and with a sizeable social media following, Johnson does rather well for himself, seeing that his net worth is $3 million, as reported by Taddlr. As his drag persona, he has also collaborated with various brands such as cosmetic big-name, Anastasia Beverly Hills and has featured in advertisements for brands like Pepsi too. Seeing that she's one of the biggest names to come out of the show, Netflix produced a documentary in 2018, titled 'Dancing Queen' which features the queen's life on and off stage, while focusing on what goes into creating the fantasy that is Alyssa Edwards and then man behind it all, Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson.
