Spoilers for Netflix's 'All Together Now'

Amber Appleton (Auliʻi Cravalho) doesn't live a simple life. She goes to high school, is aspiring to go to Carnegie Mellon, then after school, works long hours at the donut shop and also volunteers at the old age home, where she teaches and spreads cheer. That's not all, she also takes care of her mother and practically everyone else around her.

The young girl is hardworking, loving, caring and everything nice in the world. She, however, also has a pride that doesn't let her take help from the outside - or even take any "gifts".

When life hits its lowest, Amber has no one to turn to. She doesn't think much of it though and goes on putting in the hours, toiling late into the nights, refusing to give up. Then her mother Becky (Justina Machado) passes away. Barely recovering from this, she receives the news that her pet dog Bobby has a life-threatening mass on his spleen that requires an operation.

There's no doubt that this operation requires big money and Amber doesn't exactly have any of it. She then decides to drop out of high school, work even longer hours at the donut shop and take up manual labor shifts at the old age home to earn the money. It's decided because if she works this way for ten weeks straight, she can have enough money to save Bobby.

In this pursuit, Amber ends up distancing herself from anyone and everyone around her. She becomes stubborn that she can handle it all by herself and even fights with her love interest Ty (Rhenzy Feliz).

But her friends are all here for her, regardless of what she declares. So the variety shows that she has been directing for three years now is then turned into a Save Bobby fundraiser that is aimed to raise $8,000 for the operations. And so begins an evening of fun and frolic. Till the end of the event, the group had managed to gather just some $6,000-odd. They're still short of money and Ty asks everyone to continue sharing the word of the fundraiser.

Then during the final refresh, the page shows that there has been an anonymous donation of $200,000 to the fund for Bobby's operation. The entire hall is shocked so much so that they refresh the page multiple times only to check if it is true. As the entire hall cheers, Amber breaks down with gratitude and brimming with new hope. It seems like a wonderful end to a heartwarming movie. But the question persists: who made the donation? Just a good samaritan or someone who knows Amber very well.

It is then revealed towards the last few minutes of the movie - to point out, we'd have liked it had they not revealed it all - that the donation came from Joan (Carol Burnett), one of the women at the old age home.

Joan and Amber have had a cute bickering relationship. Once, sick of Amber's optimism, Joan had said how she would make her cry someday. Joan actually gets a photograph of her framed. And she succeeds - when she makes the donation, she points out. Joan also says she made the donation because she's old, and wants to leave it behind for Amber, who she knows will be putting the money to good use.

A true fairy godmother!

'All Together Now' is currently streaming on Netflix.
