'America's Got Talent' Season 15: Young singers Thomas Day and Kelvin Dukes give viewers 'goosebumps'

Thomas's deep, breathy indie sound contrasted with Kelvin's soulful R&B vibe makes them as different as can be, but both are equally gifted and had the audience on their feet

Singers Thomas Day and Kelvin Dukes wowed audiences tonight with their voices and if they are any indication of what's to come, this is going to be a really tough season for voters. The first singer of the night was Thomas who moved the audience with his rendition of 'Break My Heart' by Finneas.

Sofia Vergara commended him on exploring music despite being on a school sports team. When Simon Cowell asked him how his teammates reacted, Thomas confirmed they weren't necessarily extremely supportive or understanding. As one viewer stated, "Hella respect for boys who choose to play football and sing/act in high school. cause i know them football players be rude asf for no reason."

Simon also noted that he believed the young singer could definitely do well on the show, reinterpreting songs in unique ways. Howie Mandel noted he was nervous and stiff and voted no. However, with three yeses and an obviously happy audience, Thomas will go forward in the competition. A viewer tweeted, "This guy is way better than the guy Howie gave the golden buzzer last year," while another said, " Simon I am so glad you gave the third yes to Thomas Day! He was really very good. I looking to hear more from him!"

Fans thought he was a decent singer, with many sharing his voice gave them goosebumps and tweeting, "Thomas is very unique when it comes to his singing. I can’t put my finger on it, but something about home gives me chills," and many jokingly calling him "the new Troy Bolton" as well as "the 80’s dude Andrew McCarthy." Not all were on board, however, with some finding Thomas to be a less-than-satisfactory singer.

One viewer said, "Troy Bolton could definitely out sing him any day," with another adding, "and troy couldn't even sing." Another shared, "I didn't hear it, I just thought he was okay. This is just my opinion though," while one stated, "Yeah...I mean...Howie’s right...for once. But yeah...he’s ok."

The other young singer to make quite an impression tonight was Kelvin. He had everyone on their feet after a stunningly soulful performance. Kelvin has already found support from a massive range of people who have seen his covers, including John Legend and as the "the pride of @MCPS & @ACTSOMOCO" he clearly has a legion of fans already. And following his performance, Kelvin can add more fans to that list.

"DAMN KELVIN HAS SOUL!!!!!!" tweeted one viewer, another said, "OMGGG KELVIN IS LIKE ANYOUNG SAM COOKE AND HE IS THE SOULFUL DEFINITION OF TALENT OMFGGGG!!" and one stated, "Kelvin better sanggggg!"

One tweet read, "Wow Kelvin sing it what a great voice goosies so much passion on @AGT and only 14," another said, "Kelvin has a singing voice of an angel he was amazing," and one viewer shared, "Kelvin's voice almost sounded like Kirk Franklin."

"Kelvin Dukes is adorable!!" tweeted one viewer, another stated, "Also, Kelvin Dukes? GREAT name," and one said, "I am very impressed, Kelvin! You have a bright future ahead of you, young man!"

Regardless of which camp you're in, it's bound to be a stiff competition between the singers this season.
