'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 Episode 2: Enoch may get reprogrammed by Hydra and turn evil, suggest fan theories
Spoilers for 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 Episode 2 'Know Your Onions'
The final season of 'Agents of SHIELD' is briskly moving forward through story and time. Episode 2 'Know Your Onions' wrapped up the team's mission in 1931 but as always, things didn't go nearly as smoothly as they would have hoped. While the rest of the team managed to get to the Zephyr in time to make the next jump, Enoch (Joel Stoffer) was sadly left behind with Ernest Hazard Koenig (Patton Oswalt). Enoch is going to have to find his friends again the long way around but some fans think the Chronicom may get captured by Hydra and reprogrammed into a killer robot before that.
"He will be found by Hydra & REPROGRAMMED," an insistent fan wrote on the episode's Reddit discussion page. The fan added, "Its my own opinion an Evil Enoch is coming." "That's valid," one fan commented while another wrote, "this the type of s*** the writers will pull I can def see this coming." The fan who posted the theory also responded to the comments writing, "Sci-Fi 101 the friendly robot goes evil. Sacrifices itself for the good guys in the end."
It looks like a pretty solid theory but we'll just have to wait for the next episode to know for sure. Meanwhile, the team has definitely caused more changes in the past than they hoped to, revealing their origins to Koenig and leaving a highly advanced robot like Enoch behind. According to Deke Shaw's (Jeff Ward) explanation of the timestream, a few changes, like sticks thrown in a stream, won't be enough to change time but enough of them could form a dam and divert the flow of the future.
Whether Enoch being left in 1931 is a big enough change to create a dam or not, we'll just have to wait and see but it is bound to cause some changes at least. Here's the synopsis for Episode 2 'Know Your Onions': "With the identity of the timeline-unraveling 'thread' revealed, the team's mission to protect him at all costs leads each agent to question their own values."
'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on ABC.
