Showtime is coming out with a brand new sci-fi drama movie that is already garnering critical praise for its story and the actors' performances. The science-fiction movie 'After Yang' is based on the short story 'Saying Goodbye to Yang' by Alexander Weinstein and will explore the essentiality of a robot to a family. 

'After Yang' sees a world where robots are kept as babysitters in families to care for and bond with the children. But when Yang, a family's robot who serves a sibling-like purpose shuts down, it'll be up to the father and his daughter to find a way to revive him before it's too late. Starring talented actors like Colin Farrell, the movie is looking to be an excellent and touching watch. So read on to know more about the actors set to bring this modern tale to life.

Colin Farrell as Jake

Colin Farrell is a well-known Irish actor who forayed into his chosen career in the year 1998 with roles in movies and tv shows like ' Falling for a Dancer' and 'Ballykissangel'. He then made his feature film debut with the movie ' The War Zone'. The early 2000s were when he began to get meatier roles which won him praise from critics for his performance. They include 'SWAT', 'Phone Booth', 'The Recruit', 'Intermission' and more. Some of his more recent popular works include 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer', 'Dumbo', and 'Artemis Fowl' amongst others. Currently, fans of Farrell look forward to his transformation as the supervillain Penguin in the upcoming superhero movie 'The Batman'.

The attractive actor was also named sixth World's 'Sexiest Man' by Company magazine in 2003 and is a Gloden Globe Award winner as well. The actor is a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has lent his support to the anti-bullying campaign Stand Up! organized by the Irish LGBT youth organization BeLonG, also appearing on The 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' to increase awareness of the subject. Farrell will play the lead role of Jake in the Showtime Sci-fi film 'After Yang'.



 

Jodie Turner-Smith as Kyra

Jodie Turner-Smith is a British actress and model who after a meeting with singer Pharell Williams decided to become a model and move to Los Angeles. Although she was initially looking to be a writer, her choice was a good one as it led to a successful modeling career that transitioned into an acting career. The horror drama 'True Blood' saw her make her debut as a siren which then led to her bagging more minor roles in films and music videos between 2013 and 2017. Her role in ' The Last Ship' in 2017 was what earned her prominence following which she bagged a major role in the Netflix series 'Nightflyers'.

Her other works include ' Queen & Slim', 'Without Remorse', 'Lemon', 'The Neon Demon', 'Jett', 'Mad Dogs', 'Anne Boleyn', and more. Turner-Smith is married to fellow actor Joshua Jackson. She will essay the female lead Kyra, in 'After Yang'.

The rest of the cast consists of  Justin H Min as Yang, Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja as Mika, Haley Lu Richardson as Ada, Sarita Choudhury as Cleo, Clifton Collins Jr as George, and Brett Dier as Aaron.

'After Yang' is set to release on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 9 pm ET. It is available on-demand and for streaming on Showtime.
