A lot has gone down in the world of BTS and ARMY over the last two days and it is safe to say that it is only BTS and their fandom vs the rest of the world. On June 14, a day after BTS members celebrated their ninth anniversary since its debut, the boy group released a pre-recorded video which was streamed live late in the evening. In the video for BTS' Festa, members started getting candid about leaving their dorms and finally living alone as 25 to 30-year-old adults. But it seems like BTS' leader RM (Kim Namjoon) was infuriated by the misinterpretation of their emotions and vulnerability.

The Festa video shared bittersweet memories from the boys' nine years living together inseparably in the same dorm room. Members argued that having grown men live together was not ideal which is why with their accommodation contract with the dorms maturing, it felt like the right decision to move on with their solo accommodations. At this time, BTS also revealed that they will take a short break following the success and promotions for 'Proof', their first anthology album. But it seems like their words were twisted way out of proportion taking their short break to seem like disbandment or hiatus which led to RM turning to Weverse to clear the confusion.

Why is BTS going on hiatus? Real reason behind the group suddenly leaving dorms

BTS members negate reports about their hiatus

In the video, BTS members stated that the last nine years were Chapter 1 for BTS, the members stated that the Big Hit Music boys will focus on their solo journeys for Chapter 2 keeping their focus on BTS as a boy group less unlike the last nine years. The message was immediately spread online and it was made to seem that BTS members were going on a "hiatus" and were essentially disbanding. Media reports suggested that BTS will be taking a break from the boy group and would only focus on solo gigs for the next few years and making it seem like BTS was over. Reading reports like such, fans had gotten emotional but supported the members in whatever their decision was showing how much of a supportive fandom ARMY was. Meanwhile, BTS' label HYBE (which owns Big Hit Music) started seeing a plummet in their stock prices overnight.

The next morning, on June 15, HYBE started trying to damage control by negating the fact that BTS was going on a hiatus. By now, fans were essentially convinced that BTS was on a hiatus given the subtitles from the Festa video where Jungkook said that BTS will come back as seven sometime in the future. With HYBE's official statement not getting enough traction as expected, fans decided to wait for the truth to be revealed by BTS members themselves. Members V and Jungkook took to VLive separately and clarified that they were not going to abandon BTS as a group but would continue to promote with the group while also keeping their main focus on solo debuts and solo projects.

RM states their statements were heavily misinterpreted

As if the makanes were not enough, BTS' leader RM took it upon himself to reveal the actual truth and rubbish the rumors about the boy group going on an indefinite hiatus or disbanding. In his reverse post on June 15, RM said that soon after the video was released, it was the most number of calls he received from the time he made his debut back in 2013. He stated that he read through the news headlines that were being released online and was infuriated by the provocative and partially interpreted words.

The BTS leader revealed that their video was just a team dinner where the boys bonded and expressed their true feelings becoming vulnerable to the world. RM argued that however, this was not intended for the world to misinterpret but was intended only for their fans - the ARMY. RM states that only outsiders who did not know BTS or their fandom could misinterpret their words from the video which is why the purpose to release it was special. RM said, "Anyways, that was a confession (of love) and confession (of sin) that we had to make to all our fans who have been communicating with us so far without putting a value on that specialty."

He reiterated, "Though those who watched the video will understand, that just as the song title 'Yet To Come' suggests, it's true that what we genuinely wanted to say is that now is not the end." The rapper also revealed his discomfort with the fact that clips of him crying and visibly upset were used negatively without context. RM said that his, as well as the other members' emotional reaction, could be because leaving the dorms, a place where they lived for the last decade was a huge moment in their lives adding to the fact that they were also carried away under the influence of alcohol.

RM added, "What I wanted to say is that we're 2 things - individuals and a group, but we didn't twist our words and all seven of us speak as 1. We only shared all those sentiments that poured out in the process of that through courage and tears. I believe that if you are ARMYs who know us, you will be generous enough to understand that, and not once I will doubt that."
