Although it was long-predicted that Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell Pritchett’s (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) family of three might extend towards the end of the ‘Modern Family’, the creators upped their game several notches by adding a bit of tension in the couple’s plans for a new life.

Episode 16 begins with Mitch and Cam’s preparation for the big moment as they are yet to reveal to the family that they are adopting a new baby. While Cameron plans an extravagant introduction for the new addition to their family, Mitch is trying to wrap his around the fact that they are moving into a new house which was sold by Gloria Delgado Pritchett (Sofia Vergara) to them.

After going back and forth a lot, Mitchell is seen reconsidering their latest purchase as he doesn't feel too comfortable in his new house. Perhaps, he isn’t ready to bid goodbye to the old one.

Meanwhile, the Dunphy kids are trying to cover up for a party they threw at their parents’ residence when they were away, which has damaged the house beyond repair. However, they manage to evade the situation temporarily by distracting Claire (Julie Bowen) and Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) with another house party. But Phil and Claire struggle as they aren’t able to find a place for themselves among the elders or the youngsters.

The episode also sees Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) share a moment with his two sons as they catch up over a round of wine-tasting competition.

Jay and Manny Delgado sharing a wholesome father-son moment made for an interesting and emotional moment, as for the first time Jay is seen saying that he sees a bit of himself in his stepson.

‘I’m Going to Miss This’ saw developments that were anticipated for a long time. While Episode 16 witnessed one of the families grow bigger, it also brought Jay and Manny closer, redefining their complex relationship only a few moments before bidding farewell.

The decade-old sitcom will be airing its final episode next week, thus marking the end of an era. For now, going by everything we have seen, it doesn’t look like the various households of the newfangled family would be parting ways. It rather seems like the finale would only bring them closer as a family.

Meanwhile, what are your expectations from ‘Modern Family’ Season 11 finale?

‘Modern Family’ Season 11 finale airs next Wednesday on ABC.
