A piece of music can change lives, maybe not drastically, but it can. So when Seo-woo (Chae Soo-bin) in 'A Piece of Your Mind' convinces In-wook to record a song that he had played impromptu one day and he refuses, she takes it as disrespect towards his own creation. All that she can remember is the fact that his piece of music was the last thing that Ji Soo had heard before her death, and she had felt at peace. Seo-woo wants other people to get a chance to listen to his music and let it change them even momentarily and Episode 9 sees Seo-woo's dream come true.

Be it Seo-woo or Ha Won, both have a close connection to music. Ha Won's mother happened to be a piano teacher and Seo-woo's mother loved to play classical music for the plants that she had planted because she believed that music nurtured nature. So it is not surprising that the two of them would find bond over music.

Ji Soo loved to play the piano as a child and she even got married to a classical pianist after falling in love with him. So the role that music plays in the show is expected. However, the portrayal of the two of them sharing their painful past in different episodes and music becoming a balm to their soul is yet again touched upon in this episode when Ha Won finally opens up a littl about his mother's death and when a piece of Ji Soo hears In-wook's music that Seo-woo ended up recording.

The former sees Seo-woo and Ha Won get closer as each of them conclude that this interest they have in the other person's life is mutual and something that they must give a chance to grow. As Ha Won understands, it is rare for feelings to be reciprocated so it is important to not miss the chance to explore further when they do get an opportunity to do so.

Seo-woo might have turned her back on Ha Won in the previous episode when she was reminded of Ji Soo and somehow ended up feeling guilty. In this episode, however, she comes to the same conclusion that Ha Won did. That this is something that is worth exploring further, instead of being caught up in perceptions and notions of what love is usually portrayed as.

Then we have 'A part of Ji Soo' — the AI remembering everything that it couldn't before. The reason why Ji Soo had to travel to Norway when she was alive, the reason why she was unhappy towards the end of her life and the reason that she wanted Ha Won to go with her to Norway too. The AI remembers everything but before the AI could tell Seo-woo, who unintentionally ended up triggering the AI's point of reaction, Seo-woo switched it off. She was the one person who wanted the AI to stay cheerful, unaware of everything that troubled Ji Soo when she was alive. Now, Seo-woo has to deal with the consequences of having awakened more of Ji Soo's memories within the AI.

Meanwhile, Ha Won also ends up finding letters that Ji Soo had written to Ha Won's grandmother who had brought him to Seoul to find the truth about Ha Won's mother's death. This has begun to eat away at Ha Won and we will have to see how all of this affects the newly formed relationship between Ha Won and Seo-woo.

New episodes of 'A Piece of Mind' or also known as 'Half of a Half' will drop on tvN on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 pm KST.
