'A New Year's Resolution': Meet Aimee Teegarden and Michael Rady, cast of Hallmark's 2021 rom-com line-up
'A New Year’s Resolution' follows Milwaukee producer, Kelly Leone, after she makes a New Year’s resolution of saying “yes” to every social invitation for a full month. The "challenge" is all part of her morning show's month-long on-air experiment about New Year resolutions. Kelly goes outside her comfort zone and participates in all kinds of activities and events she would normally decline.
But she doesn't imagine she would run into charismatic businessman Tom Malone, who has the positivity and openness that cautious Kelly usually doesn't exhibit. When Tom hears about Kelly's resolution, he asks her how long she will keep it. She replies, February 8, her birthday. This is when Tom says, "a lot could happen in a month". Take a journey with Kelly and Tom as they fall in love. But who plays the couple in this Hallmark romance? Meet them on location!
Aimee Teegarden is Kelly Leone
Aimee Teegarden said that one of the things that make the film a "stand out" is all the "21 locations" they shot at from an obstacle course to a Polar Plunge and all the heartwarming characters in the film that include Kelly's friends' circle. Teegarden plays Kelly in the film. The film was shot all the way back in fall 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Aimee had posted a behind the scenes shot from that time on her Instagram page.
A California native, Teegarden began her acting when she was just 10 years old. At 16, she was cast in her first television series on the Emmy-nominated 'Friday Night Lights' playing Julie Taylor. In 2014, she starred in the science-fiction romantic drama series for The CW, 'StarCrossed'. More recently, Teegarden starred in ABC series 'Notorious', opposite Piper Perabo. She is also a familiar face on the Hallmark channel having starred in films like 'Once Upon a Christmas Miracle'.
Michael Rady is Tom Malone
According to Michael Rady, the film's premise of saying "yes" sets up the premise for "anything to happen" and describes the first kiss scene as "cute" with "lots of" music and dancing in a ballroom scene. Rady had a recurring role on NBC’s Sci-Fi drama 'Timeless' and a stand-out series regular role in the second season of 'UnREAL'.
He also has a recurring role in Netflix's 'Atypical'. Other recent credits include The CW series 'Jane the Virgin', CBS drama 'Intelligence', and Fox's 'The Resident'. He has also romanced Kristen Bell in Showtime’s 'House of Lies' and starred in several Hallmark original movies like ’Two Turtle Doves', 'Christmas in Homestead', 'Christmas at Pemberley Manor', and 'A Joyous Christmas'.
Michael Rady has been married to his college sweetheart Rachael Kemery since 2010 – they have three children and a fourth on the way. They currently live in Los Angeles.
