'A Million Little Things' Season 2: PJ grapples with the truth about his father as he awaits the results of the DNA report

The last episode of 'A Million Little Things' titled 'Mixed Signals' opened with PJ dropping the bomb on Rome that Jon may be his real father.

Spoilers ahead for season 2 episode 3 'Mixed Signals' of 'A Million Little Things'

The last episode of 'A Million Little Things' titled 'Mixed Signals' opened with PJ (Chandler Riggs) dropping the bomb on Rome (Romany Malco) that Jon (Ron Livingston) may be his real father.

After he realized the intensity of his scandalous theory, he tried to run away, but Rome stopped him just in time to ask him blatantly, "Your mom is Barbara Morgan?"

"It's Nelson now," PJ responds.

A very confused Rome wants to recheck this, for the thought of it alone brings him face to face with the potential dangers this secret could harbor. So Rome points out that Dave and Barbara (Drea de Matteo) were together back in the day; if he has doubts about his parentage and thinks that Mitch (Rhys Coiro) is not his real father, it could be Dave.

But PJ brings up the video Jon left his mother. And then says his theory out loud: "I think something happened between Jon and my mom after Dave died," he said. Rome still finds himself both shocked and confused. "Why was leaving a tape for my mom the last thing Jon did?" he asks him. Rome, however, knows the real 'last' thing that Jon did. The last thing that Jon did was to leave Barbara half a million dollars.

Later in the episode, PJ wants to test his mother. So he tells her that he has applied to art school, but is worried that he might not get a scholarship. He asks her if they can help him get through, but Barbara recalls an earlier conversation she had with Mitch where he expresses his concerns of PJ finding out the truth about his father if they take Jon's money, so she says they can't afford it.

As Barbara doesn't tell him anything, PJ decides to take one more step towards the truth. He ships Jon's sweater that he found at Delilah's house for DNA testing.

What he will find in the test remains to be seen. Considering how he picked up the sweater from Delilah's house and was worn by Gary (James Roday), so who is to say that the results he will get back will be those that he wants.

'A Million Little Things' airs Thursdays 9|8c on ABC.
