'A Knight of Seven Seas' Episode 3: Dunk gets ready for battle as tournament looms large
Two episodes of world building has finally led to Ser Dunk (Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) gear up for the tournament in 'A Knight of Seven Kingdoms' Episode 3. The trailer of the third chapter packs quite a hit as it sees Dunk look at the tourney action unravel.
The clip also shows more of the the dui's bond with Egg at the receiving end of some playful banter. It also sees Dunk give his young squire some grief about the latter's reaction to ale — partly with affection and partly with amusement. The highlight is when Dunk decides that his opponent is Aerion Brightflame Targaryen (Finn Bennett). It is a climactic moment and promises to be a humdinger, while also showing another layer of Dunk's character.
The latest comes after Dunk witnesses Aerion's cruelty to an innocent woman, making the choice a no-brainer as he looks to build on his sense of honorand also invokes the right of trial by combat. This makes it more than just a joust as it becomes a trial of seven with seven knights representing each party in a battle of dominance.
In related news, Claffey spoke of George R. R. Martin during filming. "He's a super down-to-earth, normal guy. I got to have dinner with him in New York, and we had dinner in Belfast there recently, and he's just a really, really sweet guy," Claffey told People. The actor added that the author "left him to his own devices" for his portrayal of Dunk. "I think he was quite involved in the casting process himself, so I'm sure he probably saw the way that I wanted to do things, or the way that I was trying to do things, and he seemed to be pretty happy."
"We spent a lot of time, the last time we had dinner, talking about different scenes that I loved [in the show] and stuff like that. I'm just a ginormous nerd when it comes to superheroes and fantasy," Claffey added. "He likes talking about his creation, and I love talking about his creation." The series was renewed for a second season well before the premiere of the first instalment. With the show in production, what is known so far is that it is based on 'The Sworn Sword'.
New episodes of 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' premiere Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
