'The Last of Us' Episode 2 teaser photo drops, hints episode titled 'Infected' will show how virus spread

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Last of Us' premiered on January 15 and has become HBO's one of biggest debuts for a series. Newly released pictures of the series hint at what is to come in the upcoming episode. Set 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization, 'The Last of Us' follows the story of survivor Joel tasked with the smuggling a 14-year-old girl Ellie to safety.
'The Last of Us' is an HBO original series based on the Playstation game of the same name. The series' main cast sees Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams. The cast also includes Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Anna Torv as Theresa 'Tess' Servopoulos, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry and Nick Offerman as Bill.

Recent images show a deeper look into the upcoming episode of the series. According to Comicbook, the picture shows the character of Christine Hakim in a lab examining something that looks like remains of a dead frog. As the series is yet to explore the spread of the virus, the following episode would potentially provide insight into that plot.
The first episode of this dystopian series started with the beginning of the cordyceps apocalypse in 2003 and its outbreak among the masses. The story then jumps 20 years later, where most of humans are dead lives and the survivors live in FEDRA's quarantine zones. We see Joel as a smuggler living with his friend Tess and while they are trying to buy a car battery, they come in contact with a rebel group named 'Fireflies'. When the deal gets skewed, and the leader of group, Marlene, gets wounded. He then asks the duo to get Ellie to Massachusetts Old Statehouse in exchange for supplies. During the chase, it is revealed that Ellie is infected and they enter the Biologically Contaminated area to escape the FEDRA soldiers on their tail. The second episode of the series is reported to be titled 'Infected'.
The Second Episode of 'The Last of Us' drops on January 22 on HBO and HBO Max at 9.00 pm ET/ 6.00 pm PT. New episodes drop every Sunday.
