Fox's '9-1-1' is getting the 'Dick Wolf' treatment and its universe is being expanded. In May 2019, Fox ordered the '9-1-1' spinoff, '9-1-1: Lone Star' straight to series. The original '9-1-1' will return for its second season this fall and stars Angela Bassett and Peter Krause.
Release date
The first season of the spin-off will premiere on FOX on January 19, 2020.
Plot
The show will be set in Austin, Texas and will be about a New York cop who relocates to Austin with his son. He must try to balance saving the lives of those who are at their most vulnerable while sorting out his own problems.
Cast
Rob Lowe is a Screen Actors Guild award-winning actor. With roles in shows like 'The West Wing', 'Brothers & Sisters', and 'Parks and Recreation, Lowe is a staple in American television. Lowe currently hosts the Fox game show “Mental Samurai” and previously starred in the Fox single-cam comedy “The Grinder.” He is also coming off a regular role on the CBS medical drama “Code Black,” which ended last year after three seasons. In '9-1-1: Lone Star', Lowe will play the role of the as-yet-unnamed New York cop who moves to Austin, Texas with his son.
Creators
The spinoff will have the creators of the original '9-1-1', Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear, and Brad Falchuk as the executive producers of the show. Lowe will serve as a co-executive producer. With Minear serving as showrunner for season 2 of '9-1-1', and Murphy and Falchuk have got their Netflix deal but the network is yet to confirm the spin-off's showrunner.
