'90 Day Fiancé': Stephanie struggles to come out to her parents as she fears rejection
'90 Day Fiancé' franchise decided to do something different on this Season of 'Before The 90 Days'. The show finally got a same-sex couple and people fell in love with the idea of watching their love story unfold. In today's (March 8) episode, the show finally introduced Stephanie Matto and her partner Erika Owens.
Stephanie and Erika met online and the two hit it off immediately. Erika was the one who first messaged Stephanie after falling in love with her YouTube videos. Since then, the two began texting and never stopped. Stephanie confessed that she is bisexual and that in the past, she had relationships with girls but they didn't work out.
Erika had also experienced the same thing. To make sure that there is a spark between them, Stephanie decided to head to Erika's home in Australia to see if there is a connection between them.
However, she was worried about how she would break the news to her parents. Stephanie revealed that her parents knew she was going to Australia for a couple of days to meet one of her "friends" but they did not know that it is the girl that Stephanie is in a relationship with.
At first, Stephanie thought that it would be better for her to lie to her parents and go meet Erika. But she started having second thoughts when her friends suggested that it would be better for her to break the news to her parents right now than to go to another country and reveal this.
Stephanie knew that her mother won't be thrilled knowing that she was heading to another country to meet a girl. To make things worse, Stephanie said that her mother has big plans for her wedding and she wants her to marry a doctor or a lawyer and "basically a man".
Despite this, she considered her friends' suggestion and decided to break the news to her parents. However, the big question remains. Will her parents be ready to accept it?
'90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days' airs on Sundays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
