Liz is a manager at his favorite neighborhood eatery in San Diego, where Ed first met her. Liz, a young single mother with a daughter, first clicked with Ed as a friend. In the Season 1 premiere, Ed worked up the nerve to ask Liz out on a date after conferring with a dating coach.

After a few dates, Ed asked Liz if she would go to a wedding with him, and she agreed. Initially, they had intended to share a hotel room and sleep on separate beds. Their double bed reservation had to be altered to a single due to a hotel problem, which meant they would have to sleep in the same bed. Liz was first skeptical but finally consented. Ed bragged the next morning about taking the next step in his relationship with Liz.

Ed posed the big question the morning following their first intimate encounter. "So, I might as well talk about this now. I think we’re going to look like a couple. I would like to introduce you as my girlfriend at the wedding. And so, will you be my girlfriend?" he inquired.

"I’ll be your girlfriend — just at the wedding," she joked. "I’m just kidding, I’ll be your girlfriend," she continued, kissing him.

Tiffany Brown, Ed's daughter, was adamantly opposed to his relationship with Rosemarie "Rose" Vega as viewers watched Season 4 of TLC's '90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.' The former couple's 31-year age difference did not sit well with Tiffany, especially considering Rose was four years her junior. When Liz finally accepted to be Ed's girlfriend, he asked that they arrange for her to meet Tiffany so that they may get to know one another before Tiffany gives Liz her blessing. In approximately two weeks, Ed wanted to fly to Las Vegas to meet his new girlfriend and introduce his daughter to her, but Liz thought it was premature. Liz was concerned that Tiffany would disapprove because she is a year younger than Tiffany. Ed opened up about his worries for the future of his relationship with Liz after they went to the wedding and about what would happen if Tiffany is not on board.

Ed and Liz had already split up by the time they appeared on the tell-all. Ed apologized to Liz and confessed that they had been moving too quickly. He claimed that he was so eager to be in a relationship that he pushed Liz to take numerous significant stages in their romance in a short period of time. He stated that he "stopped listening" to Liz, which is where their problems began. Liz, on the other hand, claimed that she didn't put a stop to their relationship because she feared she'd "lose" him if she didn't go at his speed. Ed stated that he did tell Liz that they wouldn't work out if their romance didn't grow soon. He stated that he did not want to be hurt. Liz then accused Ed of ignoring her on social media and then embarking on a solo trip to Las Vegas following their breakup, boasting online about having "sugar babies," as the screen flashed multiple photographs of Ed on his trip, accompanied by several women. Liz stated that his trip took place two days following their breakup. He acknowledged having moved on too rapidly from their relationship. "I'm trying to fill my emptiness," Ed confessed after many of his 'Single Life' co-stars chastised him. Ed disregarded her remark and argued that he had gone to therapy and that he still had "a lot" to work on. Liz made it apparent that they were no longer together for the time being.

Finally, Shaun inquired of the former couple as to the basis for their split. They couldn't pinpoint the particular fight that caused their breakup. Every time they fought, Liz said Ed would urge her to leave. All of their costars joined in on the conversation, and they all supported Liz in her split. On stage, Ed and Liz began arguing again over a prior blowout. Ed apologized again at the end of their first segment. Liz revealed more about what went wrong between her and Ed later in the episode. She claimed that Ed would tell her that their relationship wouldn't succeed unless she spent more time with him.

After going through a difficult period in his life, Ed attempted to move on from Liz by going on multiple dates with other women, including one named Kaory. His childhood friend, Laura arranged for him to meet Kaory, and he flew to her home nation of Mexico, so they could meet in person. Despite their efforts to enjoy one another's company, it was evident that their personalities and life objectives were very different. Ed returned to San Diego following his futile quest for love in Mexico, and his beloved dog Teddy died soon after. In a subsequent episode, the reality star expressed his gratitude for the flowers he got from friends and family while grieving Teddy's passing. Interestingly, one of the floral arrangements was made by Liz herself. He eventually reached out to her, reigniting their romance and leading to an engagement.

Engagement news that surprised fans

Big Ed and Liz startled fans in September 2021 when they were caught out partying together in Santa Barbara, California, according to TMZ at the time. Liz was sporting a diamond ring on her left ring finger on their night out, and Ed introduced Liz as his "beautiful fiancée." The happy pair shared their engagement news two months later. They disclosed in an interview with People in November 2021 that they reunited after Liz reached out to Ed after his pet dog Teddy died in August. Ed took her to his place for dinner, where they talked about their relationship, and he asked her a crucial question. He didn't spend any time going down on one knee, according to Liz. As of August 2022, Liz and Ed looked to be going stronger than ever.

Ed and Liz have certainly had their ups and downs. '90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?' Season 7 begins with the next stage of their relationship as an engaged couple. They begin looking for homes together and are determined to make it work. The concern is that their envy issues will surface and cause more complications. Can they pull it off this time?

Don't forget to tune in to TLC and Discovery+ on Sunday, August 28 at 8 pm ET/PT for the season premiere of '90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?'.
