LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: With the release of 'House of the Dragon' Season 2, the enigmatic world of political intrigue returns, with dragons ready to light up your screens.

Building on the foundations laid in its gripping first season, the fantasy series's second season is expected to delve deeper into the rich tapestry of Targaryen history, where the fate of the House of Targaryen is torn apart by conflicting loyalties and simmering vendettas.

Based on George R. R. Martin's novel 'Fire & Blood', the show never shies away from shocking deaths, akin to 'Game of Thrones'.

So, as we prepare to begin on this adventurous journey to,' House of the Dragon' Season 2, here are five shocking deaths to anticipate that are certain to change the course of history in Westeros.

Blood (Sam C. Wilson) is set to meet its end in the show's forthcoming episode. In the first episode of Season 2, Blood & Cheese (Mark Stobbart) slip into the Red Keep to murder Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell).

In a terrible turn of events, the duo encounters Queen Helaena (Phia Saban) and ends up slaying innocent Prince Jaehaerys, enraging the Greens and further agitating the already irritated and restless monarch.

Their fates are not revealed after the season 2 premiere, although the teaser for Episode 2 foreshadows Blood's horrifying ending.

Rhaenys Targaryen

Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) is a prominent and strong character in the show, and her death is guaranteed to stun viewers.

Rhaenys' decision to join the Blacks at the end of Season 1 was critical to the burgeoning conflict, and it would leave an indelible mark on the battle that follows.

However, her story will likely come to an end when she is defeated in the 'Battle of Rook's Rest'.

In the book, Aemond Targaryen, riding Vhagar, and Aegon II, riding Sunfyre, engage in aerial combat. Rhaenys, riding Meleys, is caught in the conflict and is killed in the ensuing mayhem.

The Cargyll Twins

Arryk Cargyll (Luke Tittensor) and Erryk Cargyll (Elliott Tittensor) are identical twins who debuted late in Season 1 and proudly served in the Kingsguard, the elite squad sworn to defend King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine).

However, things changed significantly for both twins due to the war for the Iron Throne, which divided into two factions: the Blacks and the Greens. This placed the Cargyll twins on opposite sides of the conflict.

Erryk traveled to Dragonstone in the season 1 finale to swear loyalty to Rhaenyra and join her Queensguard, while Arryk remained with King Aegon II.

Both believed they were on the right side of the conflict, which would lead to their clash in Season 2 of the show, as their opposing loyalties are expected to culminate in a deadly duel, ultimately resulting in a fatal confrontation between them.

Jason Lannister

The show's trailer suggests that the second season will also include other smaller conflicts, ultimately leading to the death of Jason Lannister (Jefferson Hall).

Jason, who was seen in Season 1 attempting to win Rhaenyra Targaryen's (Emma D'Arcy) favor in marriage, would most likely meet his end in Season 2.

Jason is not a fan-favorite character due to his haughtiness and unlikable approach. His death throws House Lannister into a crisis for the Greens, as it prompts House Greyjoy to launch an attack on Lannisport from the Iron Islands.

It will be intriguing to see how Jason's death escalates tensions.

Meleys

Meleys, often referred to as the Red Queen, is a fearsome dragon ridden by Princess Rhaenys in the HBO show. Meleys, known for her striking scarlet scales and pink wing membranes, is widely regarded as one of Westeros' fastest dragons.

Unfortunately, Meleys meets her fate in season 2 of the show when she and Rhaenys are tricked into a trap set by the Greens, who overpower them.

Despite their gallant efforts, both Meleys and Rhaenys die in combat. The death of Meleys is a pivotal moment as it significantly weakens the Blacks' position.
