'1000-lb Sisters': Amy and Tammy Slaton threaten to cancel contract with TLC amid 'fight for more money'
DIXON, KENTUCKY: Tammy and Amy Slaton, the stars of TLC's reality series '1000-lb Sisters', are allegedly at odds with the show's producers over increasing their salaries. Tammy, her sister Amy, half-brother Chris Combs, and half-sister Amanda is currently engaged in a "fight for more money" with the television network because they think that if they were to break free from their contracts and pursue other opportunities, they could make significantly higher profits.
Tammy has taken the role of the show's lead in recent seasons and earns the highest rate out of the Slaton family, however, it is not nearly enough to reach her desired standards. Tammy seems to be in loads of trouble when it comes to handling her finances. From failing to pay rent to depending on her security money, Tammy's list of problems never ends. Amid their financial struggles, will the sisters end their contract with TLC?

Tammy Slaton's financial woes
Viewers learned Tammy had a rough childhood and never learned how to take care of her earnings. Amy recently spoke with The Sun regarding her sister's financial struggles. Amy said Tammy lost her home because she couldn't afford to pay the rent. Tammy has been staying in an Ohio rehab center for food addiction but was residing in a $239,000 Kentucky duplex.
Amy also confessed that Tammy has been paying for things via her social security. All of Tammy's earnings from the show since its start in 2020 were completely spent on funding her recent 14-month rehab stay in Ohio to take care of her life-threatening obesity concerns. TLC allegedly did not offer an ounce of financial support. During her stay at the rehab facility Tammy's home was also robbed and her furniture and valuables were stolen. Tammy only makes around $2,000-3,000 per episode, reports revealed.
TLC's infamous reputation for underpaying stars
TLC is renowned for paying less to its talent as some stars have revealed that they earn very little. Nikki Cooper, wife of Chris Thieneman and friend of David Toborowsky on '90 Day Fiance' Season 5 confessed they were paid just $1,000 per episode plus $2,500 to film the tell-all. Season 4’s 13-episode season earned them a mere $15,500 for their time.
And now amidst financial struggles, the Slaton sisters are reportedly demanding a rise in their salary. Due to their contracts, no cast member from Season 4 of '1000-lb Sisters' is allowed to accept other commercial opportunities — at least until Part B of filming concludes — which only further adds to the reality stars' money troubles. According to The Sun, the Slaton family has threatened to exit TLC if their demands are not met and to start a spin-off series with a different production firm.
