'Women of the Night': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the Dutch crime drama

Non-English content on Netflix has been on the rise and shows, in particular from Europe, have had a lot of success. A new one that is soon to greet audiences on the streaming platform is a Dutch crime drama called ‘Women of the Night’.

Release Date:

While the show already aired on AVROTROS -- the first episode arrived on November 10, 2019 -- It will be streamed on Netflix starting March 13. 

Plot:

The original Dutch-language title of the show is ‘Keizersvrouwen’. A synopsis of the show on Rinkel Film reads: “Xandra lives a hip but safe life with her husband Michiel and her daughter Lulu in Amsterdam. Apparently happy, Xandra aches for more excitement in her life. She is tempted to once again become involved with her old life when she’s secretly offered the challenge of managing a group of successful high-end escorts in the world of big money. It’s not long before figures from Amsterdam’s upper and underworld want her in their control.”

The 39-year-old Dutch actor first caught everyone’s attention when she was cast in the popular daytime 'Onderweg naar Morgen' at the age of 16. Smulders has been a known face in Dutch theater and has performed in numerous plays, such as ‘True Love’, ‘Othello’, ‘Hedda Gabler’, ‘The Taming of the Shrew’, and more.

In addition to her work on stage, she has been a huge part of Dutch in television, in shows like ‘Familie Kruys’, ‘Divorce’, and ‘Nieuwe Buren’.

The 39-year-old Dutch actor comes from acting royalty, both his parents and grandparents being famous thespians. He is best known for his roles in ‘Tiramisu’, ‘De Troon’, and ‘Levenslied’.
